LEV Testing

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 sets out legal requirements for maintaining working conditions for employees. LEV systems that are used to control and reduce exposure to fumes, dust and vapour must be tested and examined every 14 months.

During LEV testing, we thoroughly examine all LEV equipment including filters, ducts and hoods. We use state-of-the-art technology to measure and assess the LEV system’s effectiveness. Depending on the outcome of the test, we will make necessary recommendations for change, filter replacement, cleaning or repair. If repair is necessary, we can supply the parts and perform the repair work in accordance with COSHH regulations and BOHS and standards.

Dust and Fume Extraction

If LEV testing indicates that removal of dust is necessary, we can carry out the work required to remove it. Examples of dust extraction work we have undertaken include the removal of wood waste dust, grinding dust, pharmaceutical and food dust, and buffing and polishing dust.

Regulations for LEV Testing

Local Exhaust Ventilation systems (LEV) should be tested every 14 months under the Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH). At LEV Testing, our dedicated team of experienced and highly qualified engineers hold the BOHS P601Certificate in ‘Commissioning and Thorough Examination and Testing of Local Exhaust Ventilation Systems’ which the HSE guidance HSG258 refers to as a measure of competency.
