A section of Shiregreen Cemetery wall damaged following a road traffic collision is presenting a health and safety hazard to the public and the situation will deteriorate further if not addressed. The proposal is to rebuild a 16m section of damaged wall and stone pier, an existing pier will be taken down and rebuilt, coping stones between the two piers removed, cleaned and re-bedded. An annual inspection of City Road Cemetery boundary wall has identified a number of defects presenting health and safety hazards to the public and residents in adjacent housing whose gardens border the wall. The proposal is to remove debris where the wall has collapsed and rebuild and repoint the wall where necessary. Loose stones will be re-set and missing railings from a section of a boundary fence replaced. The Contractor shall submit their own proposals for mortar which should be of a type, colour and texture to match the original mortar as near as possible. Similarly, the Contractors shall submit their own proposals for replacement steel railing panels.
