Southern Care Maintenance supplies, installs and services a range of access control systems. These are used to control the comings and goings of staff and/or clients in and out of a building or area. Access control systems can be operated using simple keypads or more advanced PC based systems that cover multiple entrances and exits.
We also supply, install and service a selection of high quality fire alarm systems. They include conventional fire alarm systems which comply with BS 5839 pt 4 1988, addressable fire alarms systems designed for a larger buildings where the fire needs to be pinpointed, and two wire fire alarm systems, which use only a pair of cables that have smoke detectors, manual fire alarm call points and sounders connected. Wireless Fire Alarm Systems
A new addition to the Southern Care Fire Alarm collection is the Hyfire wireless fire alarm system. The Hyfire utilises radio technology to provide an effective and reliable service. The Hyfire can be installed with minimum fuss to any commercial or residential property and is particularly suited to listed or older buildings where it can sometimes be problematic to install cables. Fitting the Hyfire causes very little disturbance or disruption to your property or its external decoration. The Hyfire can also be installed alongside an existing wired system and it will interface with your current fire alarm easily.
To allow residents or patients in care homes to easily call for assistance, we can provide nurse call systems of two different types.
Hard wired systems with cabling facilitate speech communication to the rooms, and require only a pair of wires contained in a thin telephone style cable. An example is the Intercall range, which is also one of the UK's best selling call systems.
Radio call systems do not require cables, which makes them more easily moved when bed positions are changed, though it also means that their battery status needs to be kept in mind.
We can provide servicing, maintenance and assistance for a range of nursing equipment such as baths, overhead ceiling hoists and standaids, from a variety of manufacturers. This service also covers six-monthly LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Regulations 1998) tests.
In terms of baths, brands and models covered include Arjo (Parker, Sovereign, Calypso, Malibu, Rhapsody, Primo, Presto and Delos), Reval (Transcare, Caprice, Onyx, Bagheera and Clara), Astor Bannerman (Isis, Beka Hospitec and Avero) and Gainsborough (Lincoln).

When a power failure plunges you into darkness, it is vitally important to be able to locate fire fighting and other essential equipment, as well see all available exit routes. Most of our lighting systems operate automatically and give off enough light so that anyone can leave the site safely. There are three separate types of emergency lighting systems. In a non-maintained system, the emergency light only comes on when the mains power supply is interrupted. In a maintained system, the same source is used for both mains and in emergency mode. Finally, in a sustained system, there is a separate light source for both mains and emergency mode. We can help you choose the system best suited to your needs.
Door holders are electromagnetic devices that keep the fire door open, letting go when the fire alarm goes off. Door closers pull the fire door shut as soon as the fire alarm sounds. We are pleased to announce an addition to our range of door holders and closers. The flexible Freedor operates wirelessly at the top of a fire door. The door can swing freely or be left in any position. When the fire alarm sounds, the Freedor will automatically close the door. The Freedor is CE marked and complies with BS EN 1154, BS EN 1155, BS 727304 category C. Visit our website to see the full range of features.
