Instron is the recognised worldwide leader in the materials testing market. We offer a full range of testing products and services, providing customers with comprehensive solutions for all their research, quality and service-life testing requirements.

We have an exceptional range of state-of-the-art instruments, systems and machines capable of evaluating the mechanical properties of materials and components through a combination of tension, compression, flexure, fatigue, impact, torsion and hardness tests.

Meanwhile our service capabilities include system calibration, training, technical support and assistance with laboratory management.

Founded in 1946, Instron is one of the world’s most experienced suppliers. All of our production processes are monitored under an ISO 9001 quality management system to ensure that Instron systems meet the high standard that is expected of them. Our products are relied upon worldwide to test and measure with the utmost accuracy.

But it’s not just the quality of our products that makes us worldwide market leaders: it’s the standard of our services. We are committed to customer satisfaction, and will do everything we can to help them achieve their materials testing objectives.

In the sections below you’ll find an overview of the products and services offered by Instron. You can find more information on these by visiting Instron online.

Electromechanical Systems

Electromechanical or universal testing machines are used predominately for static testing in a tensile or compression mode within a single frame. Other types of test include shear, tensile, compression, flexure, peel, tear, cyclic and bend. Capacities range from low-load forces of 0.5 kN up to high-capacity 600 kN.

Our most popular electromechanical testing machines are:

  • 5900 Series Testing Systems – offering outstanding precision, flexibility and durability.
  • 3300 Series Testing Systems – for routine universal static testing for quality control or production.

Dynamic & Fatigue Systems

We offer a diverse range of fully-integrated dynamic and fatigue testing systems with load capacities ranging from 1000 N to 5000 kN. Built with the latest servo-hydraulic, servo-electric and linear motor technologies, these instruments cover a wide variety of fatigue, dynamic and static testing applications, including:

  • High-cycle fatigue and low-cycle fatigue testing
  • Thermo-mechanical fatigue testing
  • Fracture mechanics
  • Crack propagation and growth studies
  • Fracture toughness testing
  • Bi-axial, axial-torsional and multi-axial testing
  • High strain rate testing
  • Creep tests
  • Stress-relaxation testing

Visit Instron online to browse our market-leading range of dynamic and fatigue testing systems.

Static Hydraulic Systems

Instron’s Industrial Series comprises of several high-capacity hydraulic testing systems for various tension and compression applications. Load capacities range from 150 kN right up to 3,500 kN. Standard Industrial Series models feature large diameter columns and rugged components for superior frame stiffness and durability. They also incorporate high quality materials and component parts to ensure system integrity and operator safety.

Custom models with unique configurations and/or higher load capacities are also available. Get in touch to find out more.

Impact Testing Systems

Impact resistance is a critical measure of service life and product safety. It is one of the most important properties for component designers to consider, as well as one of the most difficult to quantify. At Instron we have over 60 years of experience in the design and manufacture of impact testing systems that simulate real-life conditions. We’re therefore able to offer a range of market-leading machines that enable you to accurately measure service life and product liability.

Our most popular products include:

  • Drop Weight Impact Test Systems – with capacities ranging from 0.7 to 27,847 J. Ideal for measuring the impact performance of raw material specimens and finished components.
  • Pendulum Testers – for accurate and repeatable impact testing on a wide range of materials.

Materials Testing Software

Instron offers several materials testing software packages for use in conjunction with Instron testing systems. All packages facilitate automatic test control, data collection, results analysis and reporting.

Our most popular software packages include:

  • Bluehill® Software for Static Testing – the most powerful and flexible testing package available, with an intuitive web-like design for operator ease-of-use.
  • WaveMatrix™ - designed specifically for dynamic and fatigue testing operations.
  • Partner™ for Static Testing - helps manage and streamline the entire testing process, from setting the pre-test parameters to results calculation.
  • CeastView – for accurate material characterisation analysis, data processing, organisation and reporting.
