We’re able to reline the full range of paddle clutches, including the 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 paddle models. Paddle clutches are used in highly stressed applications such as motor racing and in agricultural machinery. We reline paddle clutches with top quality ceramic clutch buttons that exceed all OEM clutch plate specifications. Industrial Friction Materials hold a vast stock of clutch buttons and stainless steel rivets in a variety of sizes: this availability helps to keep your downtime to an absolute minimum. In fact, we can usually get the job done in under 90 minutes, and our next day delivery service means you’ll get your relined clutches back sooner. Although they were once often found in automobiles and other combustion engine transmissions, cone clutches are now only generally found in low peripheral speed applications. They serve the same purpose as a disk or plate clutch, but instead of mating two spinning disks, the cone clutch uses two conical surfaces to transmit torque by friction. The unique wedging action and increased surface area provided by this shape enables it to transfer a higher torque than disk or plate clutches. Cone clutches are suitable for specialist transmissions in racing, rallying, power boats, or any application where fast gear changes are required. Smaller varieties of clone clutches are also used in synchronizer mechanisms in manual transmissions.
If we cannot reline an existing plate or shoe, we’ll manufacture an entirely new one from a pattern, using accurately matched components which meet or exceed the original specification.
Forming the perimeter of the clutch is the lining, with a similar surface material to that of brake pads. One ring makes frictional connection with the pressure plate, while the other faces the flywheel.
