Coke Reactivity Test Furnace

The Coke Reactivity Test Furnace is used to determine lump coke reactivity in carbon dioxide at elevated temperatures, as well as to test its strength after reaction. Coke lumps are descended into the furnace where they are subjected to reaction with counter current CO2 and also to abrasion as they rub together against the walls of the furnace.

These concurrent processes physically weaken and chemically react with the coke lumps, producing
an excess of fines that can decrease burden permeability and result in increased coke rates and lost hot metal production. This test method is designed to indirectly measure this behaviour of coke in the blast furnace. Please consult the Carbolite website for further information and specification details.

LTF Tube Furnaces (1200°C)

Lenton offers several different types of tube furnace: the chief difference between them is the type of element they use. Furnaces in this range feature a resistance wire element wound onto the ceramic work tube. This, together with low thermal mass insulation, ensures a rapid response as well as excellent thermal efficiency and stability.

Maximum operating temperature is 1200°C.

Horizontal models are supplied with a control at the tube’s base, whilst vertical versions are provided with a separate console.

LTF - Tube Furnaces (1400°C, 1500°C & 1600°C)

With these higher temperature models, heating is provided by silicon carbide rod elements which are mounted parallel to the work tube. These elements radiate heat directly onto the tube, ensuring a rapid response time. Thermal efficiency and stability are guaranteed through the use of low thermal mass insulation.

Maximum operating temperature is 1400°C, 1500°C or 1600°C.

Horizontal models are supplied with a control at the tube’s base, whilst vertical versions are provided with a separate console.

LTF - Tube Furnaces (1700°C - 1800°C)

These furnaces are made with vertically suspended molybdenum disilicide elements and high grade insulation materials that ensure rapid response rates as well as maximum thermal efficiency and stability. They are capable of achieving temperatures of 1700°C or 1800°C, depending on the model chosen.

These models are available in vertical format only. Elements are mounted parallel to the tube axis.

CSC - Split Tube Furnaces (1200°C & 1700°C)

CSC split tube furnaces are ideal for processes that require in-line heating in order to ensure rapid heating and cooling. There are two models in the range: the CSC12, which has a maximum operating temperature of 1200°C, facilitated by spiral wire coils embedded in ceramic fibre; and the CSC17, which, thanks to molybdenum disilicide elements, is capable of reaching temperatures up to 1700°C.

All models feature an outer mesh guard to allow natural air cooling and ensure maximum operator safety and comfort.

PTF - Three Zone Tube Furnaces (1200°C, 1500°C & 1600°C)

Lenton’s PTC Three Zone tube furnaces have maximum operating temperatures of 1200°C, 1500°C and 1600°C. Lower temperature models (1200°C) are heated with an integral resistance wire element wound onto the ceramic work tube, while higher temperature versions (1500°C & 1600°C) feature silicon carbide rod heating elements mounted parallel to the tube.

In all models, end zone controllers are coupled to a centre zone thermocouple, enabling centre zone temperatures to be closely linked. This provides a longer uniform zone temperature than what can be achieved with the use of a single zone furnace of the same length.
