Description

The Authority is looking for suppliers for the Establishment of Sphagnum Farming Trail on a lowland raised bog at Bolton fell Moss Special Area of Conservation SAC.

The aim of Natural England's Sphagnum Farming Trial is twofold:

- Creation of a suitable Sphagnum-rich donor site for future restoration of Bolton Fell Moss and other bogs

- To investigate the practicalities of Sphagnum farming on cut-over peat bogs

It is important to stress that the aim is not to establish monoculture stands of sphagnum, but sphagnum rich beds of donor material.
