Description

Royal Museums Greenwich (RMG) is seeking film production companies for an annual exhibition at the National Maritime Museum (NMM).

NMM is part of RMG which has four sites - the Royal Observatory (ROG), Cutty Sark (CS) and the Queen's House (QH). These world-class attractions sit at the heart of maritime Greenwich, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

RMG attracts over 2.5 million visitors each year and is one of London's top 10 visitor attractions - the place to discover sea and space exploration, pioneering architecture, art and royal history.

In 2018 the National Maritime Museum opened the Photography Gallery. This temporary exhibition space of 265sqm houses the Insight Investment Astronomy Photographer of the Year (IIAPY) exhibition.

Exhibition background:

IIAPY is the world's largest astrophotography competition of its kind. Every year we ask photographers from around the world to send in their best images of celestial spectacles. 100 of the best shortlisted and winning images are displayed in our annual exhibition at the NMM. Each IIAPY exhibition is open September - April.

Scope of services:

We are seeking experienced film production companies to create three talking heads films of winning entrants for our forthcoming annual IIAPY exhibition and six social media edits. We are looking to create a framework agreement with a number of suppliers (number unknown) for a three-year contract 2020-23, with the possibility of extension subject to supplier performance.

The films will introduce visitors to the human story behind the photos and showcase their skills, experience and interests. Social media edits will grab audience attention online to promote the exhibition and competition.

It is essential that the contractors have a proven track record of:

Relevant experience: experience in film production for exhibitions in the museum sector, in at least three contracts within the last three years, that have been successfully and substantially completed and that are similar to the proposed works.

Capacity: the Tenderer is required to demonstrate that it has adequate resources and capacity net of current commitments (including receipt of letters intendent) and works in progress to ensure it can satisfactorily perform the contract that is the subject of this tender. The tenderer must commit to being available May-August each year should they be selected for the framework agreement.

We recognise that the films may be harder to produce this year and welcome creative proposals around travel and social distancing limitations.
