With a history spanning over 120 years, Thomas B Ramsden and Company have cemented their place as a leading manufacturer and distributor of hand knitting designs and yarn collections and are now the largest in Britain.  Based in Guisely on the north side of Leeds but supplying the whole of the UK, our brands are recognised around the world and known for their superb quality. 

We have a huge choice of colours and styles available, as well as all the necessary accessories and tools the dedicated knitter will ever need. 

Our key brands are Wendy, Peter Pan, Robin and Twilleys of Stamford; they are all manufactured to the highest standard from the optimum fibres ad materials available.

Our Wendy collection is divided into a fashion and classics range to reach knitters who want both beautiful, ageless yarns as well as those who want to feature the latest trends in their knits.  The Wendy is collection offers customers a huge choice at exceptional prices.

The stylish Twilleys of Stamford is our luxury range of design and yarns in sumptuousness materials and pure natural fibres including superfine Alpaca, fine Merino wool, pure organic cotton and 100% recycled cotton. 

For little ones, babies, toddlers and children, we offer the Peter Pan collection, made from soft, long lasting, high quality fibres. Featuring non –allergic properties, the collection comes in a gorgeous array of colours to suit every age range, from pretty pastel shades to stunning, colourful fun effect yarns.

Robin is an economy yarn with a wider choice of colours and options than any of its competitors. Robin is available in a selection of high quality materials including acrylic, nylon, polyester and British wool. 

From our balling and finishing plant in Guisely, our specialist team meticulously check and test all yarns, no matter where they were spun, to ensure they meet our standards for quality. 

Our team is always on hand to help knitters, whether they are new to the world of knitting or a knitting veteran, we can offer advice with patterns and on the best tools for the job. Although we don’t sell directly to the public it is easy to find a retailer of our goods near you and we welcome feedback on our products and patterns.

Bamboo Knitting Needles

Made from the finest bamboo, our 30cm needles are available in sets of  3mm, 3.25mm, 3.75mm, 4mm, 4.5mm, 5mm, 5.5mm, 6mm, and 6.5mm diameter each supplied in its own wallet. Bamboo is an excellent choice for knitters who work with ‘slippery’ yarns as the wooden needle holds the stitches better as opposed to metal or plastic needles. This also makes them ideal for novice knitters as they are less likely to drop stitches. Bamboo needles are also lightweight and robust and over time will gently become smoother and be even more comfortable to work with.

Crochet Hooks

We have a huge selection of crochet hooks in aluminium, plastic and steel for all your crochet needs. Our lightweight aluminium hooks are available n a huge range of sizes from 2mm right through to 5mm and are a popular choice for many crochet projects, Our plastic hooks come it two large seizes 5.5mm and 6mm, whilst out steel hooks, for more intricate work are supplied in smaller sizes  from 0.6mm to 1.75mm.

Knitting Needle Bags

Our Twilleys knitting needle bag features a simple, modern print and is made from a strong canvas material. Available in two sizes, small and large, the bag securely fastens with a cotton tie and is large enough to carry a whole host of yarns, patterns and anything else you might need. There is also a matching zipped knitting needle case available to safely keep and carry your needles in.

BonPoms

These incredibly versatile, faux fur, little BonPoms come in packs of twelve with two in each colour way. The BonPoms can be used as an added decoration to add to woolly hats, scarves or at the ends of pulls on jumpers. The BonPoms can also be turned into a whole host of fun, furry little creatures with just a bit of imagination and some accessories.

Knit/Crochet Animals

A gorgeous selection of cute animals for you to knit at home, they make the perfect personalised presents. Our animal family includes Dennis Dog, Patsy Polar Bear, Rufus Rabbit, Cream Bear, Percy Penguin, Bruno Bear, Daizy Duck and Douglas Dog. All our kits come with the knitting pattern and instructions as well as needles, knitting yarns, thread and safety eye and all the other elements that are unique to each character. The stuffing is not included and the animals range in height from 18cm – 38cm.

Large Count Cushions

Our fabulous large count cushion kits for cross stitch are a perfect addition to your home, with a range of styles from classic to contemporary. The kits are incredibly easy to use and are ideal as a starter project for beginners. All our cross stitch kits are printed onto 4.5 hpi canvases in full colour, so you know exactly where to stitch. The kits come complete with tapisserie wool, which has been conveniently sorted and bundle, instructions and needle.

Long Stitch

We have a wide selection of long stitch kits available featuring either stunning, picturesque scenes or brightly coloured flowers. Our long stitch kits are of the highest quality and are perfect for both newcomers to long stitch and the more advanced. Our kits come with everything you need to complete your project including threads, needle and full clear instructions. Canvases are printed onto full colour 22 hpi aida. Once completed the canvas can be framed and displayed.
