Permaban specialises in the design and manufacture of concrete formwork and armoured joints. We offer a range of products that are proven to save time and money in the construction and ongoing maintenance of concrete flooring, including the world-renowned AlphaJoint and BetaJoint series armoured joints, dry-shakes, sealants and various additives for surface protection and hardening.

Our products are designed to provide built-in protection. They are installed as the concrete is laid, which secures them in place and ensures strong, rigid support. Concrete floors that incorporate Permaban armoured joints have been shown to have a significantly longer service life and are considerably more resistant to wear and damage.

Permaban products are manufactured under strict ISO 9001 guidelines right here in the UK, so you can be sure of a quality product and a quality service. Though production is carried out in the UK only, a large network of international distributors and agents enables us to serve a global market. Stocks are held in strategic locations throughout the world to ensure rapid supply.

Armoured Joints

Permaban armoured joints act as a permanent formwork, ensuring a secure boundary or day joint during the concrete pour and providing ongoing concrete floor protection once the work is done. Their unique design enables the concrete slab to contract in a controlled manner, preventing the occurrence of random cracks. Once the floor is laid, Permaban armoured joints can be left in place to protect the construction joint arrises from impact damage and to provide efficient load transfer between slabs. AlphaJoint 4010

Introducing the AlphaJoint 4010, one of our most popular products. This versatile system incorporates extra concrete ties within the divider plate, making it four times stronger than the original AlphaJoint Classic 4010 – which in turn means truer, straighter joints on site. AlphaJoint 4010 provides heavy duty joint arris protection and is highly resistant to twisting (often caused by the impact of wheeled traffic). It provides efficient load transfer between adjacent slabs and allows controlled horizontal slab movement during the pour to prevent random cracking. AlphaJoint 4010 is supplied as a single unit for easy handling and installation, and is available with our Permaflex T tape system upon special request. AlphaJoint Classic 4010

The AlphaJoint Classic 4010 is based on our original armoured joint design, and is known throughout the industry to provide outstanding concrete floor protection both during the lay and whilst in use. It allows controlled horizontal slab movement to prevent random cracking, offers heavy duty joint arris protection, is resistant to twisting caused by the impact of wheeled traffic, and enables efficient load transfer between adjacent slabs. The Classic 4010 is supplied as one unit for easy handling and installation, and is available with the Permaflex T tape system pre-installed upon special request. AlphaJoint Classic CSS

The AlphaJoint Classic CSS is based on the original AlphaJoint design, but has a C-shaped stainless steel profile. It offers the many of the same benefits as the Classic design, but with the added advantage of radiused internal corners to reduce the impact of passing vehicles. The AlphaJoint Classic CSS is suitable for a variety of internal and external applications, particularly in food preparation facilities and in areas where counterbalance trucks, reach trucks and stacker trucks are frequently used.

AlphaJoint Classic F

The AlphaJoint Classic F is another in a series of products based on the original Permaban design but which have a special feature that makes them particularly suitable for specific applications. This version has a forged steel top strip that makes it lighter and more economical. It has many of the same characteristics as the AlphaJoint Classic, ensuring heavy duty joint arris protection, twist resistance, efficient load transfer, and controlled horizontal slab movement.  Classic F is suitable for a range of internal applications, particularly in distribution centres, warehouses and manufacturing plants.

AlphaJoint CSS

Like its ‘Classic’ predecessor, the AlphaJoint CSS has a C-shaped profile with radiused internal corners that minimise the impact of passing vehicles. However, this version has also been made with extra concrete ties incorporated into the divider plate, making it four times stronger than the AlphaJoint Classic CSS. It is also resistant to chemicals, retaining a smart appearance even under the most stringent cleaning regimes. This makes it particularly suitable for retail outlets and food manufacturing units, or indeed any environment in which hygiene is critical. It can also be used for doorway protection (including loading bays).

AlphaJoint F

AlphaJoint F is another exceptional AlphaJoint joint variant offering many of the same benefits as the original design, plus other unique features that make it suitable for specific applications. Like its ‘Classic’ predecessor, the AlphaJoint F has a forged steel top strip that makes it lighter than the AlphaJoint 4010, but this version also incorporates additional grid-cut concrete ties within the divider plate, making it four times stronger. BetaJoint Range

Introducing the BetaJoint range, a series of tough, sturdy yet remarkably lightweight floor joint systems for all manner of internal and external applications. These versatile designs can be cut at any point, making installation extremely easy. A unique grid-cut face provides stability along the whole length of the joint, while radiused edges on the top corners reduce stress to the joint caused by wheeled traffic (and also prevent damage to the wheel itself). BetaEdge

BetaEdge offers a simple way of protecting construction joints in internal concrete floors. A unique design means it can be screwed to the top of timber or steel formwork, giving all the benefits of an armoured joint without the contractor having to change their preferred method of working. BetaEdge is made from tough galvanised steel and can be cut at any point without compromising strength. Radiused edges on the top inside corners reduce damage to forklift wheels, while sharp edges on the inside top face of each hole enables a neat finish when trowelling-in. BetaEdge is ideal for various internal and external applications, including light manufacturing, pedestrian areas, general warehousing and distribution.

BetaEdge AR

BetaEdge AR has been designed specifically for the repair of damaged construction joint arrises in existing buildings, and is supplied with special fixing straps for easy application. It offers many of the same features and benefits as the original BetaEdge system, including radiused edges, a tough galvanised steel construction and an adaptable design. BetaExpansion

BetaExpansion is made with compressible foam that allows the joint to expand or contract once it has been installed. It is an ideal leave-in-place formwork system for external applications such as yards, roadways and concrete hard-standings. Like most of our Beta products, BetaExpansion benefits from a unique grid-cut face that anchors the joint into the concrete along its entire length. It is made from durable galvanised steel for improved weather resistance, and can be cut at any point without compromising structural strength. BetaJoint

BetaJoint is a lightweight yet remarkably robust joint armouring system that offers strong, durable joint arris protection. It is suitable for a range of internal and external applications, including pedestrian areas, light manufacturing plants, warehouses and distribution centres. BetaJoint benefits from a unique grid-cut face which anchors the joint into the concrete along its entire length. It can be cut at any point without compromising strength (making it easy to install), and is compatible with a choice of plate dowels. A version made with galvanised steel is also available for external applications.

BetaPlus

BetaPlus provides a tough, hardworking armoured joint solution for a range of heavy-duty applications. It has a triangular section made of high-tensile steel that reinforces the top edge of the joint, giving extra support in areas exposed to vehicle wheels – this makes BetaPlus an ideal armoured joint system for areas subject to heavy and persistent traffic. It also benefits from a full-height divider plate that provides added strength and rigidity, as well as a unique grid-cut face which anchors the joint into the concrete along its entire length. All in all, BetaPlus offers a highly effective and economical alternative to a traditional armoured joint.

Signature

Permaban’s Signature joints utilise ‘disruptive face’ technology to prevent the wheels of vehicles from dropping into the gap between the two edges of the joint. The half-hexagon shaped profile eliminates impact and therefore eliminates damage to both the joint and the vehicle. The top of the joint is fully supported by a unique full-depth corrugation, ensuring maximum strength and stability. Signature joints are particularly suitable for directional traffic situations where materials handling vehicles pass over the joint at a 90° angle.
