In today's society, every business is affected by stringent Health and Safety regulations that impose all sorts of duties, obligations and penalties. The directors and management of any company need to ensure standards are being met, and this takes up valuable time. That’s where we come in. Highcliffe Safety Services offer health and safety consultancy, a 'competent person' service, and abrasive wheels training which complies with PUWER and HASAWA. We come to your premises to audit your practices and procedures and provide a detailed report that advises on the areas which require attention. We’ll also carry out a risk assessment of the workplace, drafting a health and safety policy on your behalf. Highcliffe was founded in 2003 by Chris Perry, a fully qualified health and safety consultant with over sixteen years working within the building services industry. Whether it’s a construction site, manufacturing workshop or office environment, Highcliffe has the skills and experience to provide a reliable health and safety consultancy service. So if you need help, give us a call today. We’re happy to discuss all requirements.

Abrasive Wheels Training

Regulation 2(2)c of the Health and Safety at Work act 1974 and regulation 9(2) of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 declares that training is mandatory for use of abrasive wheels. The training we offer addresses all of the relevant requirements by providing your employees with the knowledge and skills required to use the equipment safely. We offer two forms of training depending on the type of equipment. Full training courses are for those who operate handheld angle grinders and traditional abrasive wheels mounted upon pedestal offhand grinders. While a short training course is suitable for those who use angle grinders and cut off saws only. Both courses follow learning objectives and outcomes, and assessment is used as evidence of proficiency.

Electrical PAT Testing

Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 form the basis for the need to have electrical equipment tested regularly. Highcliffe Safety Services carries out PAT Testing: PAT is the term used for periodic testing and inspection of portable electrical appliances. Anything that is not part of the fixed electrical installation is deemed as portable. The frequency of testing depends largely on the risks involved and how often the equipment is used. For example, construction equipment may require inspection and/or testing every few months, while office equipment may only need inspection/testing every two years.
