General Purpose Data Acquisition

Data Translation can provide our general purpose data acquisition instruments that allow you to perform detailed measurements even with just a laptop, no matter where you are. Known as 'mini-instruments', these low-cost modules are hand-held, connect to your PC or laptop via USB and use simple and fast plug-and-play software. Our range encompasses 8 to 24 analog inputs with up to 100 kHz possible depending on which model you choose. Each model uses a 12-bit resolution and 10 MOhm input impedance which helps the modules to achieve a higher level of accuracy. There are also models with up to 16 Digital I/O lines available.

Digital I/O

Our range of Digital I/O USB mini-instruments are highly cost-effective modules for the USB bus. With three user friendly models, this range provides an economical option for your digital I/O and counter/timer function requirements. The DT9817 and its high drive version, the DT9817-H, are simple non-isolation modules that feature 28 TTL I/O lines that can be programmed. The DT9817-R is the fully isolated model with 8 digital input lines and 8 digital output lines able to switch up to +/- 30V at 400mA. Both the -H and -R versions are suitable for solid state or mechanical relay switching.

Low-Cost USB Powered Thermocouple DAQ Module

Data Translation's low-cost thermocouple DAQ module provides USB-powered temperature measurement with the ability to directly connect 4 thermocouples. The DT9828E module is capable of producing sampling of up to 600 S/s, making it perfectly suited for temperature applications which can often produce signals of low speed. This module also features 24-bit ADC that has a ±156 mV input range which offers an extremely high level of accuracy as well as noise performance. Simultaneous processing is performed by the 8 digital I/O - 4 of which are inputs and 4 of which are outputs.

Multifunction Measurement Module with Screw Terminal Connections

Data Translation can provide a comprehensive series of multifunction measurement modules with screw terminal connections all of which feature 16 single-ended analog inputs and 8 differential analog inputs. Up to 100 kHz overall sampling can be achieved by the series with modules featuring either 12-bit or 16-bit resolutions. The modules in this series also feature 8 digital outputs and 8 digital inputs that also have a 'time stamp' feature. The 16-bit versions also feature 2 counter/timers. With just one cable needed for both powering the unit and transmitting data, these modules are ideally suited for testing on the go.

High Accuracy, 24-Bit Resolution Data Acquisition

The DT9820 series from Data Translation provides USB-based data acquisition with a high level of accuracy via a 24-bit resolution. Perfectly suited for applications associated with chromatography, the modules in this series feature 4 individual 24-bit A/D time-based input channels that have the ability to be separately started and stopped or run concurrently at differing sample rates. The sampling speed itself can be up to 960 Hz per channel while the modules also feature 16 digital I/Os and are compatible with a diverse range of unipolar, bipolar and offset unipolar input ranges.

Isolated, Embedded USB Data Acquisition Modules

Data Translation manufactures isolated, embedded USB data acquisition modules in the form of our DT9818 series. DT9818 modules are high-performance devices that are able to cope with the workload of multiple boards in one single unit via the simultaneous analog input and output, counter/timer, and digital I/O functions. Both 32SE/16DI and 16SE/8DI versions are available, while every version also features a 500 volt galvanic isolation that is able to stop ground loops from occurring, maximize the integrity of the analog signal and provide protection for your computer. With a wealth of different software available to go alongside the series, these modules provide numerous development possibilities.

High Speed Simultaneous DAQ

The DT9862 and DT9862S by Data Translation are USB data acquisition modules capable of operating at high levels of performance and able to provide throughput rates of up to 10 MSapmples/s when using one channel and over 7 MSamples/s when running two side by side. In order to prevent phase shifts from occurring between channels, thus allowing measurements to be correlated at exactly the same time, every analog input on these modules features an A/D converter. They also feature 3 quadrature encoders that facilitate the measurement of absolute position and relative position as well as allowing the detection of rotational speeds.

Simultaneous Sampling of Analog Inputs

The DT9816 series from Data Translation represent a new generation in USB-powered data acquisition with modules that can provide all of the features associated with simultaneous sampling of analog input signals to within a single nano-second. Featuring individual A/D converters, the DAQ modules are able to acquire data with higher bandwidth in order to remove the possibility of time skews occurring channel to channel. Every model provides 6 analog inputs which can be up to 50 kHz, 150 kHz, or 750 kHz depending on which model you choose. These modules also feature an external trigger and clock that allow multiple units to be synchronised.

16 Simultaneous Input Channels at 24 Bit

Data Translation can provide USB modules with up to 16 input channels at 24 bit resolution in the form of our DT9826 series. These high resolution, multifunction DAQ modules are capable of simultaneous sampling and combine a number of different functions, including 24 bit analog measurement, counter/timers, digital I/O, and a tachometer channel, within a single device that you can simply plug-and-play. Every version in the DT9826 series is available either as a board-level model suitable for OEM embedded test applications, or installed into a metal BNC connection box for simplified sensor connections.

High Accuracy Measurements with 24 Bit Resolution

For the measurement of analog signals, the DT9824 module from Data Translation is capable of the very highest levels of stability and accuracy from our product range. This module fully isolates both analog and digital inputs individually while the ISO-Channel™ technology provides a guarantee that each and every signal is protected from system noise and environmental noise. The DT9824 has been specifically designed for stability and features a ±0.05µV/°C temperature coefficient, and a CMRR of more than 150dB all of which offers data acquisition results of up to twenty times better than regular solutions on other systems.

Low-Cost USB Powered Sound & Vibration DAQ

Data Acquisition can provide a range of cost-effective USB powered data acquisition modules including the DT9839 - a vibration analysis solution that is portable in size. Featuring a 16 bit Delta-Sigma converter, for the conversion of analog signals to digital signals, alongside 4 input channels with anti-aliasing filtering, the DT9839 is capable of producing sampling rates of up to 52.7kHz per channel and an input range of ±2.5V. With IEPE conditioning incorporated into the analog circuitry of this module, the DT9839 is ideally suited to taking sonar, noise and accelerometer measurements as well as vibration.

USB Wide Dynamic Range Signal Analysers

The DT9847 series from Data Translation is a range of dynamic signal acquisition modules, capable of producing precise measurements with accelerometers, microphones and various other transducers with large dynamic ranges. These USB powered modules are ideal for various acoustic, audio and vibration testing applications and feature a total harmonic distortion (THD) of an ultra-low 102 dB with a 123 dB wide dynamic range. DT9847 modules are capable of operating analog inputs and outputs simultaneously and up to 216 kSamples/s per channel. The DT9847 series can also support start triggers and reference triggers for pre- and post-trigger sampling.

4-Channel Portable Strain- & Bridge-Based DAQ

Data Translation's DT9838 is a data acquisition module that is portable, USB powered and designed for bridge- and strain-based measurements. Providing performance at a high-speed, the DT9838 features a 24 bit resolution and 4 analog input channels able to run simultaneously at up to 52.7 kS/s, plus a tachometer installed into the analog input stream. The DT9838 is also capable of quarter-, half- and full-bridge completion, up to 10 V of internal excitation and is also compatible with transducer electronic data sheet (TEDS) smart sensors as well as channel expansion when used alongside the RJ45 synchronisation connector for connecting multiple modules together.

Dynamic Data Acquisition & Modal Analysis

The VIBpoint framework by Data Translation is compatible with our USB and Ethernet data acquisition modules and provides the ability to analyse data in real-time with a number of our vibration test systems. The VIBpoint software is displayed and navigated by various configuration windows making this an incredibly user-friendly platform. A number of different tools are provided including continuous and triggered data acquisition, data to disk recording, recorded data file reading, single FFT and two-channel FFT analysis of data, and output stimuli production for modal analysis testing. VIBpoint's signal display is also high customisable and can be altered to suit your requirements.

DT9874 - MEASURpoint USB

Data Translation can provide an instrument for incredibly accurate measurements of temperature and voltage, in any combination, in the form of our DT9874 MEASURpoint. Outstanding flexibility with RTD, voltage and thermocouple inputs can be achieved with the use of up to 48 channels, each of which can be configured. Available in both USB and Ethernet models, the DT9874 incorporates ISO-Channel technology which prevents any ground loop or mode noise issues from occurring no matter the environmental conditions. MEASURpoint instruments also come with our QuickDAQ 2013 software package which provides numerous functions including instrument configuration, multiple-instrument measurement acquisition, numerical and chart displays, data to disk logging and data exports to Excel.

DT9805 - Temperature Measurement Solution with USB

The DT9805 by Data Translation provides USB powered thermocouple measurements in a simple and easy to use plug-and-play format. No programming is required and measurements can be taken straight away, once the DAQ module is connected to a PC and the thermocouple inputs have been screwed into the module terminals, via our thermocouple measurement application that is provided alongside the DT9805 for free. Each module provides up to 7 differential thermocouple channels and one CJC channel with up to 50 kHz overall sampling. A additional model, the DT9806, is also available featuring two 16 bit programmable analog outputs as well.

DT9832 - High Performance USB Multifunction Module

Data Translation can provide simultaneous, multi-channel data acquisition functionality in the form of our multifunction USB DT9832 and DT9832A modules. This simultaneous ability prevents any phase shifting between channels and allows measurements to be correlated at exactly the same time. Both with 16 bit resolutions, the DT9832 features four SE analog inputs with a sampling speed of 1.25 MHz per channel, while the DT9832A features two SE analog inputs with a sampling speed of 2.0 MHz per channel. There is also the option to add on two analog waveform outputs with a sampling rate per channel of 500 kHz.

Isolated Analog Output Modules

Data Translation's DT9853 and DT9854 modules are a lower cost option providing analog output and digital I/O functions. The modules offer four or eight analog output channels respectively at 16 bit resolution all packed into a compact outer shell that has been built for durability and features screw terminal connections of a standard design for fast and simple wiring. With no external power supply required since both data and power are conveyed via USB, this series of modules has also been designed to be completely scalable with multiple modules easy to connect together in order to be compatible with applications that have a high-channel count.

4-Channel USB Data Acquisition with IEPE

For noise and vibration measurements of high accuracy on the move, Data Translation can provide our DT9837 series of data acquisition modules. Simultaneous data streams for both laboratory and field applications are provided thanks to the four 24 bit IEPE (ICP) sensor inputs that synchronise with a tachometer input. Small, durable and powered via a USB connection to a PC or a laptop, sampling rates of over 52.7 kHz or 105.4 kHz are available depending on which model is chosen. The series also features programmable triggers in order to provide a huge amount of flexibility for analog input operations.

Analog Output Module

Data Translation's DT9834 is a high-speed USB powered module with four Waveform analog outputs that can generate waveforms as well as digital bit patterns at an output of up to 500 kS/s per channel. This can be performed both simultaneously and synchronously. The DT9834 is able to operate in two modes: either streaming continuously from a PC, or using its on-board memory to output analog and digital signals without requiring intervention from a PC. The DT9834 is available as either a BNC-Box version including an EP361 power supply, or just as an OEM board version.

Programmable Analog Output Cards for the PCI Bus

Data Translation's DT330 series are programmable analog output cards with either four or eight analog outputs, depending on the model chosen, for the PCI bus. With both 12 and 16 bit resolutions available, DT330 series cards have a sampling rate that is dependent on the performance of your PC. Every model features 32 digital I/O lines with eight input lines that come with the facility to interrupt on change. Direct connections to semiconductor relays are also possible. The DT330 series provides a low-cost option and is ideally suited to applications that involve the need for control capabilities as well as multiple data acquisition outputs.

96 Digital I/O Lines with USB Interface

With a USB interface, the DT9835 from Data Translation is a digital I/O board with a high channel count. Featuring a total of 96 digital lines, the DT9835 has 64 TTL digital I/O that are programmable, plus 32 TTL digital inputs. 16 lines come with Status Change Interrupt functionality while the module also comes with semiconductor relay switching and 500V galvanic isolation from the PC to which it is connected. Since the DT9835 is powered by USB, only one cable is needed for both power and data acquisition while the whole unit is packed into a durable metal casing.

DSP Based Measurement & Control Card

Data Translation's DT9840-OEM series allows you to integrate DSP measurement into your existing devices. Suitable for real time applications, a low-cost two analog input version is available as well as the standard eight analog input version. The DT9840 series also comes in both 16 bit and 24 bit models suitable for a range of different applications: the 16 bit version is ideally suited for aerospace and automotive test systems, fast automatic control loops, simultaneous signal processing and the measurement and control of rotation; the 32 bit version is typically used with the recording of precise measurements, fast analysis, acoustic and sonar applications and transient analysis.

DSP Based Measurement & Control System

Designed to be a complete, all-in-one measurement and control system, Data Translation's DT9840 'SleekBox' offers 'ready-to-run' measurement capabilities. Every model in the series features eight simultaneous analog inputs with up to 8 simultaneous analog outputs available depending on the model chosen. Every model also features 24 digital I/O and 3 counter/timers. Both 16 bit and 24 bit models are also available which are each suitable for a range of different applications including vibration control and modal analysis with the 24 bit system, and simultaneous signal processing and the control and measurement of rotation with the 16 bit system.

10-Bit Lowest Cost USB Module

Part of our low-cost, mini-instrument range, the DT9810 by Data Translation is a highly cost effective and portable USB module that can connect to a laptop and uses a very small amount of power. Suitable for applications that only require up to a 10 bit resolution, the DT9810 is capable of producing accurate measurements straight out of the box when used alongside our comprehensive software package that comes with the device. The DT9810 features 8 SE analog inputs with an input range of 0 to 2.44V, 20 digital I/O lines, one counter/timer and an overall sampling rate of 25 kHz.

High Resolution, High Accuracy Ethernet DAQ Device

For the most stable and accurate measurement of analog signals in Data Translation's product range, we produce the DT8824: an Ethernet DAQ module capable of operating at a high resolution with high levels of accuracy. With each and every signal input able to be completely isolated from one another, the DT8824 incorporates ISO-Channel technology which provides guaranteed protection for all signals against system and environmental noise. Acquisition results from the DT8824 are up to twenty times better than regular solutions while the TCP/IP Ethernet connection provides the opportunity to monitor measurements coming through the system locally or at a remote location.

4-Channel Ethernet DAQ for IEPE Sensors

Data Translation's DT8837 is a multifunction module ideally suited for the measurement of vibration and sound with high levels of accuracy. The DT8837 is capable of sampling data even in industrial environments thanks to the I/O channels that can be individually isolated in order to eliminate noise. In order so that time matched data streams can be produced for both laboratory and field usage, the 4 24 bit IEPE sensor inputs, the 24 bit D/A stimulus ouput and the 31 bit tachometer channel are all synchronised. The DT8837 can also be used as a stackable system with the ability to stack up to 16 modules for 64 channels.

DT8874- MEASURpoint Ethernet (LXI)

Data Translation produces an instrument for superbly accurate measurements of any combination of  temperature and voltage in the form of our DT8874 MEASURpoint Ethernet (LXI). Using up to 48 configurable channels, amazing flexibility with RTD, voltage and thermocouple inputs can be achieved although the system is available in 8, 16, 24, 32, and 40 channel versions, as well as the maximum 48 channel model, to suit your precise requirements. The DT8874 features ISO-Channel technology in order to prevent any ground loop or mode noise issues with up to 500V of continuous isolation making this the ideal module for the measurement of alternative energies often found in noisy locations.

Tools & Data Logger for MEASURpoint


Data Translation can provide a 'ready-to-measure' data logger application in the form of QuickDAQ 2013, compatible with all of our MEASURpoint modules. This software is able to acquire various types of data from single or multiple instruments including voltage, RTD and thermocouple data. QuickDAQ 2013 can also read recorded data files, record your data to a disk and display data results in both plot and digital display formats. QuickDAQ 2013 has an ICI-COM driver allowing it to be compatible with any development environment able to support COM programming such as LabWindow, MATLAB®, The MathWorks™, Visual C#® and Visual Basic®.

DT SAE Base Units

Suitable for both desktop cases and 19" rack systems, Data Translation can provide our DT SAE-System base units that provide a signal conditioning system that is both flexible and modular. Our desktop versions include 5, 8, 13, 19 and 38 slot systems able to take up to 6 signal adapters for data acquisition hardware. Our 19" rack mount system features 19 slots and can fit up to a maximum of 6 data acquisition hardware signal adapters. A wide range of our OEM data acquisition USB modules are compatible with the DT SAE-system as well as PCI cards when used in conjunction with a signal adapter.

DT3000 Series

The DT3000 series from Data Translation are multifunction cards with high gain and channel counts, suitable for a wide range of applications. With various different configurations available, analog inputs of up to 64 SE/32 DI can be incorporated. Both 12 and 16 bit resolutions are available as well as overall sampling speeds of up to 330 kHz. DT3000 series cards also feature 8 digital I/O and up to 2 analog outputs at 200 kHz per channel. With programmable gain, the DT3000 series can support the direct connection of thermocouples as well.

DT3130 Frame Grabber Series

Data Translation's DT3130 series are monochrome, composite colour and S-video frame grabbers able to capture simultaneously from up to 3 cameras. Compatible with Windows 7, up to 3 DT3130s can be used on a single PCI card with a maximum number of 9 camera inputs able to be multiplexed. With various models available, the DT3130 can feature up to 3 trigger inputs as well as up to 3 programmable stobe outputs. DT Imaging Omni software - a 32 bit WDM DT-Open Layers package - is included with every frame grabber as well.
