Based in Stoke on Trent, CCM are an accredited Cskills Assessment Centre covering most parts of the UK.

Our card scheme CPCS, Construction Plant Competence Scheme is highly regarded in the industry and recognised across the field, as well as being the largest scheme of its kind, It ensures that plant workers are able to show that they have good operating skills and strong health and safety awareness.

Normally tests are carried out at a registered CPCS test centre, however should specialist equipment be part of the test criteria it will then be conducted where the equipment is located. Some of the many categories covered by the test included;  Crawler Crane, Tower Crane, Concrete Pump, Motor Scraper, Tractor Dozer, Dump truck and Grader.

Our Training Centre has both internal and external training areas, is set in a friendly environment and is comprised of an understanding and accommodating team of trainers and staff. We always ensure that a first class competitively priced service will be provided.

Health, Safety and Environment Test

In order to be allowed to work on any site, all construction workers, regardless of their job role must be issued with a CSCS card, otherwise they will not be permitted entry. A mandatory Construction Skills Health and Safety Test is taken to obtain the card and this test sets the standard for the industry. Over 500,000 people take the test each year and it offers reassurance in the knowledge that people who hold this card have a minimum level of health and safety knowledge. To keep the test in line with current legislation it is continually reviewed and always meets industry requirements.

S/NVQ

At CCM we offer National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) which are practical qualifications that show that the candidate can do the job effectively. We first conduct a free interview to ensure that the candidate does not require further training. If we feel there is a need for additional training, the applicant will be placed into a programme that follows a different, longer timescale. Should the candidate already have some experience or is a CPCS trained operator card holder, the assessor will confirm that the assessment process has been met and the package will include application for CPCS competence cards. If the entire process is successful and all workplace evidence has been collected, the certificate of unit credit will be awarded as will the full NVQ certificate on completion of the HS&E test. The Cskills Awards is applicable in all industry areas and universally recognised.

Renewal Procedure for CPCS Competence Card Holders

When a CPCS competent operator blue card needs renewing, key safety related knowledge must be checked on each category. The CPCS Management committee bought in the renewal test to assess blue card holders on topics relating to safety issues that regularly occur on site. There are a set of questions for each topic and a certain number of these will be included in the test. The test comprises of 15 randomly selected questions covering all topics. All categories in the scheme are covered through modules and have been selected to be comparable with CPCS categories. As with the Health, Safety and Environment test, the renewal test can be found on the CITB Construction Skills Testing service platform.
