Ballscrew Replacement

Should your ballscrew be beyond economical repair, we will supply a like for like replacement which is machined in-house from our range of stock products within just 7 days. If we cannot use a stock product then a replacement will usually be supplied within 4 weeks.

Ballscrew Upgrades

In certain situations where a ballscrew is beyond economical repair, our engineers can conduct a study of the application and the parameters in order to determine whether an upgrade is feasible. This will usually involve the use of larger balls, more contact balls or ceramic balls, as well a surface treatment applied to the raceways.

Such upgrades can offer numerous benefits, including harder and more durable raceways, lower torque, less vibration, less noise and a lesser requirement for lubrication – all of which result in the significant increase in the ballscrew's operating life (by a minimum of 35%). The benefit of having a longer lasting ballscrew will - through increased productivity and less operational downtime - far outweigh the unit price of an upgraded ballscrew, making it a more cost-effective option than a like for like replacement.  

Ballscrews for OEM applications

Ballscrew Services can supply a huge range of ballscrews to cover the requirements of most OEMs. We can offer ballscrews of all international standard grades (including DIN and JIS classification), in diameters up to 180mm, lengths up to 12 metres, and with ballnuts in single, double, flanged, cylinder or prismatic configurations. Spindle Repairs

Thanks to its strategic partnership with Spindle Services Ltd, Ballscrew Services can now offer a complete repair, refurbishment and upgrade service for spindles. We can also offer spindle component reclamation, including hard chrome plating, metal spraying, ceramic coating, boring and bushing. 

Upon arrival of your failed spindle at the Spindle Services facility in Coventry, it will be disassembled and then thoroughly inspected in order to determine the underlying cause of failure. A detailed teardown report and full quotation will be given, along with professional recommendations as to the options available. 

Once commissioned, a team of engineers will rebuild the spindle with new super-precision bearings in a purpose-built clean room. It will then undergo extensive testing and inspection before being sent back to you. 

Actuators

Ballscrew Services can offer partial or total refurbishment of actuators and linear modules, ensuring compliance with customer specified standards and bringing the component back to “as new” condition. Any type or drive configuration – whether ballscrew, leadscrew or belt – can be fully serviced. This includes the repair or replacement of component parts. Should the actuator be considered beyond economical repair, Ballscrew Services can usually supply a direct or better quality replacement.

The spindle is driven by a precision balanced motor; a simple change of pulleys will alter the speed of the wheel, allowing users to find the ideal setting.
