CANTILEVER SLIDING GATES Cantilever sliding gate systems do not require a ground track - this can be advantageous where the driveway entrance slopes, busy or heavy traffic entrances or where minimal disturbance to the driveway surface is requested. The main design difference from a tracked system is that the cantilever system has a special section bottom rail in which incorporates two sets of enclosed roller wheels set apart at a pre- determined distance to a large concrete foundation base. The usual arrangement is for a single gate to slide across the opening, requiring a space for the gate to move into which is somewhat greater than the size of the gate opening. Where space is more limited, tracked sliding gates can also be supplied as a pair of bi-folding gates. Two easy-roll wheels are fitted under each gate. A steel track of almost double the gate opening size must be concreted into the ground. The gate is supported by rollers mounted on a roller post. The benefits on a Rolling tracked gate over a cantilever are less maintenance lower cost and better in all round weather conditions. COMMERCIAL PALISADE GATES Palisade fencing is one of the most commonly used fencing styles for security conscious industrial and commercial premises. Palisade fencing is especially popular as it can be combined with our high security palisade gates and together offer an effective security solution. Our strong steel palisade gates can be designed to swing, slide or operate as a cantilever gate. Automation and security has extensive experience of creating bespoke palisade gates to integrate with new and existing fencing installations. Shown below are images from a successful Automation and security installation of an airlock principle sliding gate system to a car pound in Newcastle It eliminated the possibility of tail-gating into or out of secure facilities as only one vehicle can enter the airlock at any time. It also meant that the operator no longer needed staff in the pound to open and close a manual gate. This was an important consideration in the move to an automated system as staff were constantly subjected to verbal and sometimes physical abuse by members of the public when collection their vehicles. This installation was controlled via CCTV from a central office. The controller opens one gate and allows the vehicle to drive in. Once inside the gate is closed behind the vehicle. Only then is the exit gate opened to allow the vehicle to exit the airlock. The exit gate is closed before another vehicle is allowed in.
