Based in Derby, Aerodyn Ltd specialise in providing high quality instrumentation and testing to aerospace, power generation, automotive and industrial businesses worldwide. We work alongside our sister company Aerodyn Engineering Inc. (AEI), in areas of design, installation, testing and analysis as well as providing slip ring systems. We also specialise in building applications for OEMS and end users throughout the world.

Our standard line of high speed, data quality slip ring assemblies and speciality instruments are manufactured in partnership with AEI and are suitable for all types of rotary machinery and come in range of sizes and speeds. 

Our sister company AEI is also a member of National Instruments™ Alliance and we are able to provide data acquisitions and control systems using our vast library of LabVIEW™ applications as well as other customised software and test routines.

Should you require it, we are also able to perform testing in house or on field sites, regardless of how inhospitable or remote they are. We are more than happy to travel to any site in the world and our years of working with turbo machinery of all types, combined with our extensive experience guarantees that testing will be carried out to the highest level.  

Aerodyn Engineering can also give clients a range of options for prototype and development machining; these include close tolerance and precision fabrication. We are able to use a selection of technique in-house such as CNC milling and turning, welding, brazing, balancing and sheet metal forming.

Our other services incorporate instrumentation, fabrication, and installation and we offer a wealth of expertise in this field as well as being able to carry out a full inventory test of all equipment and accessories.

Instrumentation

No matter what the application, Aerodyn can design, fabricate and install sensors that can cope with extreme temperatures as well as high pressure and vibrations. We are able to define, design and make modifications to engine hardware that enable the installation of the sensor and lead wire routing paths.  We can work on your site or from our own premises and can help with engine assembly, wire routing, and termination of sensors. Alongside instrumentation and testing, we can also offer other complimentary services, including data acquisition.

Slip Ring Manufacturing

Used for advanced technology rotating measurements, our slip rings provide fast speed data quality and are used throughout the world on high speed rotating machinery and in the development and experimental testing of gas turbines. We design our slip rings for both longevity and optimum contact density and they produce clean, quiet signals. We are able to custom design and fabricate installation adapting hardware for use between rotating machinery and slip rings and ensure it fits perfectly and works correctly. We can also supply cooling systems, essential for keeping the slip rings cool when testing. Furthermore we are able to offer an overhaul service of slip rings from the last 40 years and can help rebuild the unit as well as being able to supply a competitively priced rental service.

Fabrication

We offer our customers the highest level of service and in terms of our craftsmanship there is none better. We can work with you on your design or you can use one of our own manufactured designs by a member of our highly skilled team. All of our work is carried out in house, so we are therefore able to control costs, maintain our level of excellence and keep work to schedule. We can work with orders of any size from prototypes to mass production. Our fabrication service can be used in conjunction with our other services to provide a complete solution.

Worldwide Field Test

Our field test service can be provided at any site around the world, despite the location or nature of the environment. We can conduct tests on a huge selection of equipment including wind, gas and steam turbines, aircraft, piston engines and blast chambers to name a few. Our testing can take place wherever is most convenient, whether that be in test cells, at power stations, aboard ship or at manufacturing facilities. Our thorough service will cover writing test articles and reports, routing lead wires, configuring data acquisition systems as well as recording and reducing data. We can undertake tests ranging from hours in duration to many months of ongoing support and we are always ready to go as soon as required.

Dynamic Testing

Dynamic testing can be performed in-house or on site and we use a series of sensors on systems or components that detect responses to natural or forced frequencies. Our dynamic testing service covers specific areas of analysis, which are data, modal, structural and mechanical as well as airfoil characterization, and advanced and routing signal processing. Our dynamic testing can be used with our other services such as instrumentation and data acquisition, enabling us to acquire a complete understanding of all the signals being analysed. We understand how vital it is to have accurate data that you can rely on and our range of testing ensures that we provide you with the optimal results.

Data Acquisition

We use specialist LabVIEW™ software to create an application that entirely bespoke to each customer. As data is collected and analysed in real time it speeds up the decision making process, with choices being made almost instantaneously. Clients can view their data digitally during testing and it can also be sent directly to offsite engineers electronically if required.

Our service also allows our customers to retrieve data remotely from their sites without the need for added staff or travelling costs. Data can be sent through the landline, mobile phone or internet and we are also able to upload it to a secure website, allowing the customer to view the information in real time from any location in the world.
