Description

The School of Engineering at the University is looking to purchase a smart grid and transmission line test rig(s) setup which is suitable for:

o All test rig or rigs should come with both the necessary and additional recommended test equipment, software, power supply/supplies and accessories to ensure full functionality of the test rig(s) system.

o Modular integration of renewable energies test rigs where applicable.

o Each test rig frame panel should be width <1300mm, depth <800mm and height <2000mm.

o All relevant electrical and mechanical safety considerations built into the design.

o To be supplied with interactive/multimedia training course materials/operating instructions from the manufacture.

o Be able to perform a range of experiments on the rig(s) including three-phase busbar, coupling, open-circuit transmission, circuit breaker overtime behaviours.

o Be able to perform a range of experiments on the rig(s) including complex loads, load monitoring and power consumption analysis - using a range of resistance, induction, and capacitance loads.

o Allow for the investigation of dynamically alternating loads, power generation and intelligent energy management.

o Allow for the investigations of three-phase transmission lines, cables, earth-fault compensation, power networks, load voltage regulation and protection overvoltage/undervoltage.

o Have a wind power plant facility which allows for synchronisation to the grid.

o Measuring instrumentation to be provided with various communication interfaces to allow for PC control from user input.

o Power Engineering software must be provided for the intelligent control and evaluation of smart grids, with necessary displays(s).

o Power Engineering software to allow for simulation work where appropriate.

The necessary software and any training manuals/exercises for students to complete when in the laboratory environment must be supplied in electronic format

The warranty period must be a minimum of one year.
