Description

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is issuing this Standard Questionnaire ("SQ") in connection with the competitive procurement for Proton Beam Therapy Patient Accommodation to UCLH.

UCLH is currently building a new eleven storey hospital, known as 'UCH Grafton Way Building', located in the heart of London. It will be home to Europe's largest centre for blood disorders, short stay surgery and one of only two NHS proton beam therapy (PBT) centres in the UK; the other centre is now open at The Christie in Manchester. There will be a gradual ramp up of the PBT service for patients during 2021.

PBT is an advanced form of radiotherapy used for the treatment of complex and hard-to-treat cancers in children and adults. Previously patients had to travel abroad for PBT, but now patients can benefit from local access to this advanced treatment at The Christie with potentially better outcomes and a lower risk of longer term side effects.

Patients will receive the PBT as outpatients, coming to the hospital each day over a period of around 6 weeks. Where required, they will be provided with "home from home" accommodation near to the hospital
