Switchserve is a family run business that specialises in the supply, installation, maintenance and modification of low voltage switchgear – Air Circuit Breakers (ACB’s), Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs) and associated products.

The company was established in 1991 and became a limited company in 2009. We are accredited to SAFEcontractor and The Guild of Master Craftsmen. We provide customers with the highest standards of customer care and are committed to providing the most effective project solutions at competitive prices.

At Switchserve we are continually investing in the latest equipment to ensure our services are of the highest standard. We work with a large range of test and secondary injection test equipment for your ACB’s as part of our servicing procedures. We also provide other associated services including: Power Analysis and Data Logging, Provision and maintenance of distribution panels and Retrofitting.

Secondary Injection Testing

Secondary Injection Testing is usually conducted to check the operation or breaker and their protective relays/ devices. A secondary injection test strip is connected to a trip unit on a circuit breaker, injecting a simulated current to prove it works at different levels. Secondary injection testing differs from primary injection testing in that it is normally carried out when the circuit breaker is closed and not carrying any current through its main poles. We work with a range of secondary injection test sets to ensure the trip unit, settings or factory parameters and associated components are working correctly. Secondary injection testing is essential for circuit breakers after mechanical service and inspections where the breaker is repeatedly charged, opened and closed.

Upgrades & Retrofitting

Here at Switchgear we provide customers with expert advice and information on ACB’s. We can provide high quality spares for the maintenance and repair of current systems or we can offer new equipment and upgrades if appropriate. Our highly experienced team carries out full site surveys before discussing available options. Data Logging and Power Analysis


We also provide a first class power analysis service using state of the art analysing equipment. Our data logging and power analysis services are widely used to help customers gain an understanding of their actual power consumption. The results are useful when considering alterations or upgrades to existing equipment in order to keep costs to a minimum.


Data logging and power analysis is also effective for helping customers monitor peaks, troughs and other issues that occur such as faults that cause ACB’s to trip.


Once we have captured the information, we download the data and present in to a format to suit your requirements.

Our experience and position in the industry enables us to source and deliver parts to customers in fast turn-around times. We are pleased to be distributors for Mitsubishi and also carry stock for manufacturers including ABB, Merlin Gerin/Schneider, GE and Satin American Q-Series Trip Units.

Alongside the supply of new equipment, we also offer second hand equipment and carry a stock of obsolete parts.
