Randstad Financial & Professional is an award-winning speciality recruitment firm with a focus on the financial services industry, professional services, commerce, the public sector, and the NGO sector, with more than 30 years of experience.


Randstad was founded during the intense upheaval of the 1980s – the "big bang" deregulation in the City of London and major changes in the UK labour markets. These changes created an abundance of new job opportunities in the financial services industry and related professional markets – and so a number of specialist recruitment firms were established to deal with the new reality. Four of these firms banded together to combine their expertise across different sectors – and in 2009 they formally merged to form Randstad Financial & Professional.


Our history across multiple sectors means that we have been able to develop longstanding relationships with a wide number of employers. Some of our recruitment staff have been with us since the beginning. And some of our clients, looking to hire new talent for their companies, first came to us as candidates for the jobs we were looking to fill.

Our History

The upheavals of the 1980s – the "big bang" deregulation of the City of London, and the opening up of UK labour markets – created a boom of new job opportunities in the financial services industry and related professional industries. Joslin Rowe, the financial services recruiter, was formed in 1982; the legal recruiter Hughes-Castell was formed in 1985; paralegal recruiter Prolaw followed in 1987; and the accountancy and finance recruiter Martin Ward was established in 1989. All four ran independently, even as competitors; but after the year 2000, as recruitment practices shifted from rolodexes to SMS text alerts, the four firms were brought under the Randstad umbrella to offer a unified and multi-sector service. Randstad Financial and Professional was formally established in 2009 – with the benefits of a shared history and the future potential of four houses merged into one.

Our Work in the Community

Randstad Financial & Professional believes that recruitment firms such as ours play an essential role in developing the workforce of tomorrow. We do this by promoting careers in the financial and professional services sector to a wider and more diverse audience than has been perhaps customary in the past. Every member of Randstad's staff is given a day off from work to contribute to a community project – from helping in the homes of vulnerable children, to supporting failing schools, or visiting drop-in centres. Our staff also make monthly charitable donations from their salaries to raise thousands of pounds to support the inner-city children's charity Kids Company. Randstad is emphatic about its goal of being a member of the community – and this helps make us a better recruiter.

Accountancy and Finance

Randstad has for 30 years been matching candidates with certain skills, qualifications and experience, against thousands of jobs in accounting and finance across the UK. Our recruitment service covers firms from banking to private practice. And we help employers fill positions from the beginning of a career, such as account assistants, right to the top finance director positions at major corporations. Compliance

Businesses in the financial services industry, and related industries, have to abide by an increasingly complex maze of legalisation, permits, regulation, licenses, and other legal requirements. This has sparked an explosion in the demand for candidates to fill compliance jobs. And the market for compliance officers will grow by a further 15% in the period 2010 to 2020 – that is 32,400 new jobs and 26,200 replacement jobs. Randstad is proactively seeking to fill these "performance auditor" positions across all financial and related industries. Candidates often need specialised education and training for compliance – we consult with candidates to direct their knowledge and skills to the right job.

Insurance

Insurance has for centuries been one of the most important drivers of economic growth in the UK. The UK insurance sector is the second-largest in the world, by premium income, and it is one of the most competitive insurance industries among developed countries. Investment Management

Randstad actively works to fill dozens of investment management jobs in the financial services industry. These include jobs in business analysis, client reporting and services, corporate actions, fund accounting and administration, performance analysis, project management, relationship management, research and static data jobs, sales support, settlement, back-end trade processing and support, transition, and valuation. We typically field job searches across asset services, consulting, front and back office work, portfolio management, and many other roles.

Marketing and Communications

Randstad's marketing and communications team has a wealth of experience – 25 years – in recruiting communications and marketing specialists for the financial services industry and related sectors. We conduct vertical recruitment of internal and external communications candidates for asset management and investment banking clients. Randstad also works to fill online and offline marketing roles, writing and analysis roles, product management and development, events management, presentation work, and other areas. We recruit from graduate to director level.

Operations and Middle Office

Recruiting for highly responsible and senior positions in financial services operations is one of our busiest areas of work. Operations executives are in many cases accountable directly to senior management or the board of directors. Their role is to optimise the way a company organises its financial functions – a critical role. Candidates must be able to oversee and improve all financial management, planning, systems and controls. Knowledge of business processes and planning are essential skills. Risk Analysis

Randstad has more than 25 years of experience in recruiting for risk analysis positions in the financial industry. And for the past 12 years we have had a dedicated risk recruitment team whose job has been to find the ideal candidates for risk jobs. We offer to our clients a recruiting service that can full temporary, interim, contract, and permanent roles. Our specialist recruiters have extensive experience recruiting for risk jobs and we have a deep understanding of the special needs of the risk profession. We can recruit for credit analysis, credit risk, investment risk, liquidity risk, market risk, operational risk, quantitative analysis, regulatory risk, systems risk, and treasury risk.

Our recruitment methods rely on two systems: contingency and campaign. The contingency method checks our clients' needs against our vast database of candidates to find a series of strong matches. And our campaign method mounts a special effort to find candidate with niche skills, senior experience, and other special attributes.
