Screenings Treatment

The removal of solids from the wastewater flow is the first step in the wastewater treatment process – this is completed using a series of screens that filter out large particles such as household waste, faecal matter, toilet paper and mineral solids. Of course, these screens need to be replaced on a regular basis, but used wastewater filters cannot be simply thrown away. They need to be correctly treated, and the best method for doing this is washing and compaction using a wash press. These remove faecal matter and other organic materials, reducing the size and mass of the screen by up to 80% so that disposal costs are kept to a minimum. Discover the HUBER range of wash presses at Huber.co.uk.

Grit Separation and Treatment

HUBER Technology offers an excellent range of grit separators and treatment equipment, covering virtually any separation requirement. This includes several longitudinal and circular grit traps, as well as complete plants for comprehensive mechanical wastewater treatment in a single, compact unit. As well as a standard range of separators, HUBER can also offer bespoke grit treatment systems designed according your own specific requirements. If you would like to discuss your separation requirements with a HUBER engineer, just give us a call on 01249 765000.

Sludge Treatment

Most of the waste generated in municipal wastewater treatment plants is sludge. The volume of sludge produced depends on the type of treatment, the connected population and population equivalents, and the wastewater characteristics, which vary from country to country, region to region. It is estimated, however, that sludge volume can be as much as 45kg per person, per year. Here at HUBER, we develop sludge treatment plant to cover virtually all volume requirements; this includes a range of screening, thickening, dewatering, drying and thermal utilisation equipment. You can find out more about our range of sludge treatment plant at HUBER Technology online.

ROTAMAT® Screw Conveyor Ro 8 / Ro 8t

The ROTAMAT® Screw Conveyor, available in a closed tube (Ro 8) or lidded trough (Ro 8t) configuration, is used for the transportation of coarse, fine and compacted screenings, sludge, grit and solids from wastewater treatment and industrial process plant. It can be installed horizontally, on an incline, or even vertically. Each conveyor is custom-made according to the characteristics of the product it will be carrying, and is manufactured using quality materials and state-of-the-art production techniques. A unique design principle means the ROTAMAT® Screw Conveyor can be equipped with either a push or pull drive and feed hoppers or dischargers.

Membrane Bioreactor (MBR)

The clarification process in municipal and industrial treatment plants has been characterised by large, space-consuming structures, odorous processes and poor degradation and retention efficiency in case of varying loads. The consequence of this is high building costs, high plant maintenance costs, and a negative impact on the environment in the form of emissions and destruction of natural habitats. That’s why we have developed the Membrane Bioreactor (MBR), a system that allows for size reduction of structures by up to 70% whilst also improving plant performance. It also eradicates problems caused by scum or sludge overflow. Even existing structures can be retrofitted with this state-of-the-art system for increased capacity. To find out more, please head over to the HUBER Technology website.

Micro Screening / Filtration

We offer reliable and innovative solutions for advanced wastewater treatment by means of filtration and micro-screening. Adding these stages to the treatment process will significantly improve effluent quality of both biologically treated wastewater and raw wastewater. Filtration of biologically treated wastewater serves to remove the suspended solids (suspensa) that remain in clarifier effluents – such suspensa can contain around 50% carbon, almost 10% nitrogen and more than 1% phosphorus. Micro-screening, meanwhile, is used to treat raw wastewater that is discharged into the sea or a large river – the process removes all solids and, if required, phosphates.

Sedimentation Tanks

In order to achieve a clear effluent and a superior effluent quality that meets all standards, virtually all floating and suspended solids must be removed from the effluent. This can be done using two clarifiers; a primary and a secondary. The primary clarifier separates organic and mineral solids and removes them as a primary sludge. The secondary clarifier should then remove as much of the biological sludge, activated sludge or trickling filter sludge from the wastewater as possible. Both solids and sludge must be retained within the clarifiers to keep the effluent clear, which means they need to be able to cope with level rises caused by storm events. You can find out how our sedimentation solutions do this by visiting HUBER Technology online.

HUBER Dissolved Air Flotation Plant HDF

Dissolved air flotation with pressure water recirculation has proved a highly effective technique for the removal of toxic and other harmful substances which would otherwise enter the sewer system and result in a surcharge or fee. The HUBER Dissolved Air Flotation Plant has been designed to offer a significantly improved flotation process thanks to a special inlet structure that provides optimum control of the flow within the flotation tank. Storm & Sewer Equipment

HUBER Technology offers a variety of machines and system solutions for the treatment of storm water, river water and combined sewerage systems. This includes combined sewerage screens, pumping station screens, sewer and storm water basin cleaning equipment and a range of manhole covers, safety climbing systems, entrance aids and railings.

Energy from Wastewater

A heat pump is a device that uses the thermal energy contained in wastewater to generate heat or power. Our HUBER ThermWin® system will withdraw sewage from the sewer, screen it, pump it through an above-ground heat exchanger, and, having harnessed its energy, will then return it safely back to the sewer. Having a heat pump installed is an efficient use of renewable and sustainable energy. Wastewater is virtually unlimited, local and free. The process of extracting heat is cost-effective from a dry weather flow of around 10 litres per second.

Equipment in Stainless Steel

As specialists in stainless steel fabrication, HUBER Technology can offer a complete range of ancillary equipment for water treatment applications, including stormwater overflow tanks, biogas plants, manholes, flow control devices, technical doors, railings and crossings, drinking water storage equipment and much, much more. Stainless steel products offer an unrivalled lifespan, are completely resistant to corrosion (thanks to acid treatment and passivation), and are suitable for hygienic applications. To discover the full range of stainless steel equipment, please head over to HUBER Technology online.

Hire and Trial Units

At HUBER Technology, we’re committed to providing cost-effective water and wastewater treatment solutions that meet and exceed all expectations. Sludge Drying

Disposing of sewage sludge is becoming more and more difficult, especially since regional disposal options, such as agricultural application, have started to decrease. However, sewage sludge in dried form is a much sought-after source of energy. Dried sludge has about the same thermal value as brown coal and generates enough heat for the sludge drying process itself, making it a highly economical, sustainable solution. Dried sludge is also much easier to transport.

At HUBER Technology, we offer several innovative drying systems designed specifically for sewage sludge, including:

  • HUBER Solar Active Dryer SRT – an innovative, season-independent solar dryer
  • HUBER Middle Temperature Dryer BT – a flexible system designed for virtually all sludge drying applications.
