PAT Testing

PAT Testing is a legal requirement which helps protect your business and employees from preventable harm resulting from lack of care and maintenance of portable electronic equipment. Tests we carry out comprise a series of electronic based examinations, alongside visual checks checking for suitability of equipment in terms of location, overall condition and operation. Further work carried out on all appliances found within a workspace can include anything from replacing damaged or faulty plugs, checking fuse ratings, carrying out metered tests, and bringing any problematic inspections of appliances to management attention. A drawn up certificate will be presented after the inspection is complete, with results and a full report then sent in a desired format.

PIR Testing

Alternatively known as Periodic Inspection/fixed wiring inspection, PIR testing's ultimate goal is to determine whether existing electrical installations are safe for use and have been installed correctly. The final report after inspection deems the safety condition of installations as either satisfactory or unsatisfactory, the latter requiring immediate remedial work. Criteria for the inspection is based on current electrical safety standards for installation; helping avoid potential fines, imprisonment, and loss of income and invalidation of insurance claims should regular inspection and testing be neglected. The inspection can determine potential electric shock risks or fire hazards and identify any improper DIY electrical work, with further tests carried out on wiring and associated fixed electrical equipment.

Microwave Testing

Microwaves are a common appliance in workplaces, providing efficient meals when time is of the essence, although a lack of periodical testing can lead to faults, seeing the applicance become a health and safety problem. Poor maintenance of door seals and general lack of cleanliness can lead to higher than normal leakage levels, which is where our tests come in. A microwave detection instrument is used to measure radiation levels, ensuring they haven't risen above the 5 mW/cm2 limit, while additional checks of power output may be done to ensure satisfactory cooking of food and drink. Consumer or industrial microwave tests can be carried out alongside our PAT tests, with a full separate report available.

Why Should I Have This Done?

Complacency in regular electrical installation and portable electrical appliance testing is no longer an option. Modern health and safety laws require them in order to keep related insurances validated should fire or personal injury problems occur, alongside ensuring prevention of personal hardship in fines and even imprisonment should the laws not be adhered to. To guarantee the health and safety of your business and employees within, it's imperative that proof in safety of electrical systems is supplied for legal compliance, through a regular programme of inspection and testing, backed by creation of proper records. Testing of electrical equipment installed or used in office, industrial, construction and commercial environments should usually be carried out every 12 months, with inspections required during shorter intervals for portable and hand held devices.
