Bespoke Gas Springs

As well as a selection of standard gas springs, Dictator Engineering is able to provide its customers with fully customised solutions which meet the specific requirements of their application. We offer a bespoke gas spring design service and can offer production lead times of between 5 and 7 days. Locking Gas Springs

In some situations, the application for which a gas spring is used will require some form of locking mechanism. Our Rigid Locking and Cushioned Locking Gas Springs have been designed expressly for this purpose. The former type have been designed to lock firmly in any position along the stroke length without further movement, while the latter type (cushioned locking) will do the same but also provide a small amount of cushioned movement in order to absorb shock loads. Double Cylinder Gas Springs

The Dictator double cylinder gas spring enables faster piston rod travel and has a speed adjustment facility that allows full control over the rate of decompression. The unit includes a control valve that enables travel speed adjustments to be made in-situ. Double cylinder adjustable gas springs are commonly used to move folding doors. Pull-Type Gas Springs

Pull-type gas springs work in the opposite direction of conventional gas springs, and are usually fitted piston rod uppermost. This type of spring is ideal in applications which do not allow for the fitting of a normal gas spring. On the Dictator website you’ll find details on the normal lengths and end fittings available. Double Cylinder Gas Springs

Our market-leading gas springs are used throughout industry to carry out a multitude of tasks. The simple opening of lids, covers and doors are amongst the most common applications, but gas springs designed and engineered by Dictator are also often used to provide a counter balance force. 

An appropriately specified and correctly installed Dictator gas spring will function efficiently for many thousands of operations. To maximise lifespan, the spring should have a short stroke and be correctly aligned, have secure mounting points and be protected from dirt and/or chemicals.

Dictator ADAPT-A-GATE Closers

The Adapt-A-Gate “no slam” closer from Dictator Engineering Ltd is the ideal pedestrian gate closing system. As its name suggests, this versatile gate-closing solution can be made to fit most types of gates, transforming them into quiet, safe operating units. Adapt-A-Gate closers are designed to fit to vertical bar, bow top, wrought iron, timber and most other types of gate. They benefit from a 180° opening angle, excellent corrosion resistance and a high level of protection against vandalism. Dictator "DIREKT" Gate Closer

Dictator’s DIREKT gate closer offers an economic solution to the controlled closing of outside gates, such as those used to access nurseries, schools, industrial plants or just standard garden entrance doors. The mechanism within the closer prevents gates/doors from slamming shut and thus reduces the danger of injury and accident. The DIREKT closer always closes the gate or door reliability, which is very important in schools or nurseries where children must be prevented from running out onto a potentially very dangerous street. Like all Dictator products, the DIREKT closer is easy to install and can be adjusted to determine the speed of closure.

Dictator RTS Tube Door Closer

Our RTS tube door closer is actually built into the door, making it virtually invisible. In fact, the joint can only be seen when the door is opened. This type of closer is particularly useful for outside gates which would not usually have a frame above the door (and thus where the installation of an overhead lever-type door closer is impossible). A concealed fitting also better protects the mechanism from atmospheric conditions, as well as vandalism. Door Checks

Dictator door checks offer a convenient and cost-effective solution to the inconvenient and irritating problem of slamming doors. These simple but effective devices are designed to catch a door that is thrown shut by hand or by wind and bring it to a close in a controlled manner, thus eliminating the potential for loud bangs. Naturally they have become very popular in sound or vibration-sensitive environments such as schools, hospitals and research laboratories. Dictator door checks will always ensure the door is pulled completely to, so you do not have to worry about escaping heat.

Lift Door Dampers

Our standard lift door dampers offer a cost-effective solution for the safe and quiet closure of lift doors. They are designed for lift doors weighing up to 100kg, and, because they are fitted within the door itself, are completely unobtrusive and totally vandal-proof. Standard lift door dampers are available in 30 different designs to cover most lift door specifications. Door Closers

Dictator’s Adjunct 2500 door closer offers a mechanical solution for ensuring doors are firmly closed after they have been used. They are particularly useful where there are strict fire regulations or where energy efficiency is a key concern. The Adjunct 2500 is actually integrated within the door for aesthetic and anti-vandal purposes. It only becomes visible when the door is opened. The strength of the spring mechanism can be adjusted to speed up or slow down the rate of closure. Adjunct door closers are an ideal alternative to the more obtrusive hydraulic door levers.

HAWGOOD Spring Hinges

Hawgood spring hinges offer an ideal solution for double-action doors. There are three models to choose from:

• Hawgood 4140K – specifically designed for the lighter segment of double-action doors (shop doors, gallery doors, factory doors, etc.). Maximum door weight should be no more than 45kg. 
• Hawgood 4241 – this model is suited for heavier double action doors. It can also be supplied as a fully stainless steel version suitable for buildings with high levels of humidity (swimming pools, spas, etc.).
• Hawgood 4000/4500 – for smaller double action doors; for example, saloon doors, louvre doors, counter doors, etc. Available in several different versions, including fine brass nickel, brass polished or composite (grey). 

Door Holders

The ZE door holder from Dictator has been designed to keep doors open in any position that the user requires. It is ideal for situations where the use of a mechanical stop would not be possible. The device is available in four different sizes to cover most sizes of door. Stroke distances range from 25 to 90mm. An integrated spring in the rubber foot of the door holder means that the door will remain in its position even on surfaces that are polished or uneven. All metallic parts are made from aluminium or stainless steel, which makes the ZE door holder ideal for use outdoors and in humid environments.

HLS-Catch Temperature Bolt

Hot-Locking-Safe temperature bolts are designed to prevent the spread of fire.

Hinged doors will often distort under great temperatures, which could cause dangerous gaps through which fire can spread. Thus the effectiveness of your fire protection doors is severely compromised. These bolts, however, will prevent this from happening. Under normal circumstances, the bolt is retracted in the casing and locked in place with a soldered strut. When this strut reaches 65°C, however, it melts, releasing the bolt and allowing it to fix the door securely in place, which in turn prevents the door leaf from distorting.
