Copper & Optic is a dedicated subcontractor and manufacturer in the electronics and fibre optic assembly business. We offer services in electronic wiring of cable assemblies, harness assemblies, cabinets and cubicles. We are based in the heart of the UK and we are pleased to offer our services across the country and much of Europe. Copper & Optic maintains a 19,000 square-foot facility for operations and manufacturing, including an electrostatic dissipative floor to ensure the best conditions for our product manufacturing. Our assembly of fibre optic termination is performed by staff trained to the IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards. We also offer training for the IPC-A-620 standard to our customers. We are proud to be accredited to the BS EN ISO9001:2008 / AS9100 Rev C standard.
We are certified to solder to the IPC-J-STD-001 standard and to assemble printed circuit boards to the IPC-A-610 PCB standard. We are a first-class assembly and inspection company. Copper & Optic is pleased to offer low-volume hand assembly of printed circuit boards and other surface-mount technologies. We have approved subcontractors for larger volumes, although final inspection is always carried out by Copper & Optic.
Copper & Optic is pleased to assist with your cable assembly or cable harness work – at any stage of design and development. We have expertise from taking your specifications and needs, and producing a high-quality product based on our long experience. Applications for these products can range across industries, from aerospace to motor vehicles, as well as many other sectors. All of our work is inspected by our WHMA/IPC-A-620-certified team.
Cable assemblies, encapsulations for components, batteries, and printed circuit boards all involve a range of silicones, epoxies, elastomers and other chemicals. We have the capacity to handle the design and development, and to provide the chemicals involved in potting and mould tooling.
We are pleased to assist clients with the production of control panels to custom designs, sizes, and finishes, that are often used in the production of test equipment for vehicle manufacturers, pumping stations and many other applications. We procure Rittal-type or similar cabinets, using the schematics of your specific needs to hand-craft a fully wired control cabinet or cubicle.
Fibre optic technology, long the basis of telecommunications technology, has now spread to a range of other applications. Sectors that use fibre optics require very high quality connectors and terminations – especially the defence and aerospace industries. Copper & Optic has been building excellent fibre optic cable assemblies since we were established. Connector types and terminations come in a range of standards and we are expert at sourcing the best and most appropriate design for you.
At Copper & Optic we are continually researching the industry and developing our products and services in order to meet and exceed industry demand. During the years, we have invested heavily into automatic test equipment so that we can test absolutely everything we can. This enables us to deliver top quality products and services at all times. We use a range of test equipment including the DIT-MCOrr 2115 Circuit Analysers, CIRRIS or DYNALAB ATE (Automatic Test Equipment). With this equipment, we can test up to 9,000 test points including test backplanes, cubicles, control panels, large wiring harnesses/ looms and more.
Our senior management team has a wealth of experience working for some of the biggest names in the defence electronics industry.
