We’re really proud of the support and benefits we offer to all our students via our exclusive online tools, which include a members’ forum, library and online shop where members can buy goods at below trade prices.

Details of our highly competitive course fees can be found on our website.  The fees are inclusive of all tuition and materials used in your particular module. Our courses run for two people as standard, however we are happy to accommodate those wanting personal one-to-one training and we are able to provide this service for an extremely affordable supplement. We are also pleased to accommodate requests for weekend training.

Curtain Making

This four-day module will teach you all you need to know about designing and making curtains starting right from the beginning  with how to calculate the amount of fabric you will require based on plain or patterned fabrics.  You will also learn how to set out pleats on plain fabrics, how to pleat by design on patterned fabrics and how to join face fabric and linings. Students will leave the course with two pairs of curtains; one plain, one patterned, both of which will be hand pleated, lined and interlined.  The course will also cover how to use contrast edgings, rope, braid and trimmings.

Curtains for Arched Windows

During this one-day module students will learn all about the most suitable curtain types for arched windows.  Not only will they master pattern making for roman and gothic arches but they will make their own curtain, learn the correct hanging technique and also how to complete the overall look by using the Italian stringing method.

Roman Blinds

Roman blinds add timeless elegance to any room and this course demonstrates how to design roman blinds with both plain and cascading folds and you will spend time making your own interlined roman blind. Both one and two-day modules are available for this course.  Please contact us for further details.

Soft Pelmet

A soft pelmet, as the name suggests, is fabricated with a flexible core and during this module you will make a soft pelmet using canvass as the core material.

Upholstered Pelmet

An upholstered pelmet has a ridged structure and on this one-day module you will create your own using plywood for the core material.  You will complete the upholstered pelmet with interlining and face fabric.

Tie backs

Tie backs are a fantastic way to really show off a window and to allow greater amounts of light into a room.  The course details how to take accurate measurements for a striking tie back embrace and reviews the different tie back designs available.  During this one-day module you will also learn how to make adjustments to rope tie backs and make two tie backs of your own.

Valances

This is a two-day module that you will finish with a pleated valance and hand pencil smocked valance, both of which you will have made yourself after learning how to make designs for both plain and patterned fabrics.

Swags & Tails

Swags and tails are very intricate finishes to a curtain arrangement but they really showcase a window.  This five-day module will cover everything you need to know to create a multitude of interlined swags, swaged valances, tails, rosettes and trumpets.  You will discover the art of cutting patterns for swags and tails and swaged valences and finally how to apply braids and decoration for the perfect finishing touch.
