Testing the durability of pelleted animal feeds is vital for maintaining product and process quality control and efficiency. Measurement of pellet durability ensures that the optimum amount of binder is introduced into the feed mixture, maintaining a balance that prevents pellet breakdown wastage from insufficient binding while at the same time avoiding wastage from the inclusion of excess binder.

Pelleted animal feed Testers

The features and capabilities of our new range of three Pellet Testers are the result of knowledge and expertise gained during 15 years of involvement and research within the pelleting industry.

The versatile, affordable new Holmen Portable Pellet Tester NHP100 is a manually-operated tester that offers the ability to calculate Pellet Durability Index (PDI) test results with high repeatability accuracy of ± 1.0%.

The new Holmen Production Control Pellet Tester NHP200 has been designed to automatically calculate PDI under varying test conditions with a repeatability accuracy of ± 0.1%.

Our new Holmen Process Control Pellet Tester System NHP300 with inline sampling capability is perfectly suited for busy pellet processing plants.

Holmen NHP300 in line pellet durability teste

Holmen's new NHP300 in line pellet durability tester can produce pellet sample test results automatically directly from a transfer duct.

Perfectly suited for eliminating wastage and maintaining quality assurance in high-volume pellet processing plants, the NHP300 performs testing on an automatically retrieved sample, then returns it to the transfer duct. The test results, indicating the
"pellet durability index" (PDI) can be sent to either an independent display or in ASCII format directly to the mill control.

In addition to the PDI calculation, the NHP300 also has the optional capability of calculating the amount of dust (Fines) in the sample.
