Basement Construction

However challenging the project, Knight Build Limited can offer a solution. Take, for example, our basement construction project at The Collins Theatre in Islington Green. Here we were required to transform the site of the old Sam Collins Music Hall into a modern development with four basement levels to house the theatre and leisure areas and a further nine above-ground storeys to house contemporary apartments which were to be arranged in galleries overlooking a central glass atrium. Our ability to complete such a complex project attests to our experience and expertise as a contractor as well as our willingness to defy convention.

Concrete Frames

Knight Build Limited has experience building concrete frames for all sorts of developments. Pictured to the right is the N15 block of the Olympic Athletes Village in Stratford during its early stages of development. The concrete superstructure had 10 storeys and was fitted with pre-cast concrete staircases. We also developed the concrete substructure and took care of the building’s drainage and service requirements. In all, the N15 block at the Olympic Athletes Village required more than 32,000m² of concrete slabs.

Underpinning

We have extensive experience in the construction of basements and therefore have a high level of expertise in various underpinning and piling procedures. We work with clients from an early stage to ensure the best possible solution and maximum use of space whilst minimising risk to surrounding properties. Early planning and careful attention to sequencing allows us to use the new structure to support the works during construction, reducing the amount of temporary propping required in order to save you time and money. When designing temporary works, we favour the use of reusable proprietary formwork panel systems so as to minimise the requirement for timber. Where possible we will only select materials that can be recycled, and we will always seek ways of reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.
