How It Works

When sailing, each Kiwi Feather™ propeller blade is free to weather vane into the constantly varying waterflow, thus reducing drag. The near-neutral buoyancy of the Zytel enables a rapid response to any change in direction. 

 
As the propeller begins to rotate when motoring ahead, the blades weather vane around to the pitch stop, where they are held in the preset pitch position to generate forward thrust. When the motor is disengaged, the propeller automatically reverts to the sailing status outlined above. 

Design Features

The Kiwi Feather™ propeller has been designed to minimise drag when sailing and improve speed when motoring. A unique set-up allows the blades to align with the water flow rather than the shaft, which reduces resistance and ensures a smoother action. The three blades are made with lightweight, corrosion-resistant composite materials and can be replaced individually. The Kiwi Feather™ prop fits most standard shafts and sail drives and is suitable for 15 to 56HP motors.

Blue Water Shaft Seal

The Blue Water Shaft Seal is a flexible seal unit designed for retrofitting within an existing stern tube assembly or installation into a new vessel. This proven system is now certified by Germanischer Lloyd for use in both pleasure and commercial boats and has become the standard model for many build builders around the world. Blue Water Shaft Seals are manufactured from cast admiralty bronze, chosen because of its exceptional resistance to salt water. They are available for shaft sizes from 25 to 100mm in diameter.
