Barometers

You’ll always know what the weather is doing with one of our excellent multi-function barometers. The three-dial analogue barometer/weather station comes in indoor or outdoor variants and indicate temperatures up to 60 degrees Centigrade, while our aneroid range include aneroid barometers (with cases finished in brass and pointers that can be adjusted manually) plus portable cup and vane anemometers (in splash-resistant cases and with displays of wind speeds in different units) for external use. The digital barometer/weather station features a five-line LCD display plus time and calendar functions and an indicator to show approaching storms.

Dairy Testing Equipment

Anyone who works in the dairy industry will find our versatile range of testing equipment invaluable. Our universal Gerber centrifuge offers four different speeds, a timer with an automatic brake, an imbalance detector and accessory chamber heating. The Micro II Gerber centrifuge, which helps determine low levels of flat in dairy products, is supplied with a rotor for eight butyrometer tubes. Reductase tubes and lactometers are offered in sizes between 1.025 to 1.035g/ml, and glass butyrometers come in versions specific for milk, skim milk, cream and cheese. Accessories available include heating motors and rotor buckets. All in all, a selection that’s la crème de la crème!

Drying Cabinets

Invaluable for general drying purposes and particularly good for glassware, the drying cabinets in our catalogue fall into three categories. All have a maximum temperature of around 50°C. Sliding-door versions are offered in capacities from 100 to 250 litres, while hinged-door models are fan circulated, and you can choose from sizes between 425 and 1,000 litres. Both types have shelves made from chromium-plated wire and are painted in stove enamel, while some individual models have additional energy-saving fibre insulation. Glassware dryers are specifically designed to dry flasks. Made from metal with plastic nozzles, they come as either bench or wall-mounted.

Label Printers

High-quality printed labels are a must for classification and organisation within your laboratory. We offer two types of label printer – the BMP21 is a hand-held version intended for all-round and general use, and can be operated either by battery or mains. Accessory tapes are available in white gloss, matt polyester or nylon cloth. If you require a more specialist printer to label samples with, then the portable BMP51 is the perfect choice. It comes in a hard carrying-case and its design follows Good Laboratory Practice guidelines. The BMP51’s nylon, polyester or vinyl cartridges produce beautifully clear black text against white background.

Lubricants

Our wide selection of lubricants is certain to feature the right one for your laboratory. Silicone grease is commonly used for stopcock lubrication and can withstand the effects of a large number of chemicals. Glisseal greases (which don’t dissolve in water and are thermally stable) are useful for stopcocks and glass joints, while apiezon greases are highly appropriate for vacuum systems but are also excellent for general lubrication. Non-toxic apiezon waxes are based on minerals and can be employed to seal joints in high vacuum systems, and machine oil is great for all-round lubrication and for liberating seized parts.

Portable Laboratory Incubators

If you run a laboratory on a small scale or if you often need to go out in the field, one of our compact and easy-to-transport portable incubators may be what you’re after. The Cultura Incubator has a clear styrolux door and is perfect for treating glassware, test tubes and so on, and the rectangular Challenger MX25’s temperature range is between 5°C to +45°C. In its aluminium housing, the Ranger MX45 is ideal when using a standard incubator is not viable. Our personal shaking incubators have fitted single blocks for use with microcentrifuge tubes and employ a low-voltage power supply.

Scalpels, Blades & Handles

Drawn from the Swann Morton line, our armoury of scalpels and their accessories will give your laboratory that crucial cutting edge! There are a host of different permutations available, with disposable blades made from stainless or carbon steel (both coming in sterile or non-sterile options). You can choose between fixed handles in plastic, metal reuseable ones or stainless steel types (available singly and compatible with DS180 and DS185 blades).  Our blade removers work with all Swann Morton scalpel products, and can be sterile or not as you prefer! All our products are sterilised by gamma radiation for that extra touch of security.

Ultraviolet Lamps & Eye Protection

Ultraviolet light has a wealth of scientific applications. The ultraviolet lamps we offer are all hand-held (while the LM232-14 is also available as benchstanding), with several versions being battery operated. These lamps operate on 254 or 365nm wavelengths (or both!). It is essential to wear correct eye protection when using UV lighting. Our Spectacles UV are appropriate for short-duration or intermittent UV exposure, and our Goggles UV have been specifically designed to provide maximum comfort and visibility. For full protection of neck and face, the Faceshield UV is an essential item on your laboratory shopping list.
