We’re capable of handling a range of bar materials and plastics, and as well as machining, we can also offer light assembly services. Heat treatment, plating and grinding can also be carried out via a network of approved local sub-contractors. A range of state-of-the-art machines and a dedicated team of engineers enable us to handle batch sizes from 10 to 10,000.

Dive Reel

R McMahon Engineering is the manufacturer behind the highly successful SMB-series dive reels. Designed, developed and tested by an experienced diver, these have been in constant production to meet consumer demand since 1981. Over the years, we’ve been continually developing and refining our dive reels to meet the safety and performance requirements of modern diving technology. Today there are two types of SMB dive reel – the standard reel based on the original design, and a more compact version first developed in 1997.

Large SMB Dive Reel

The standard large SMB reel has been continually improved over a 30-year period; today, it’s one of the very best on the market. Made with marine quality stainless steel fixtures and polypropylene and ABS mouldings, R McMahon SMB reels are built for safe, reliable performance. They are available with 50m or 100m lines.

Compact SMB Dive Reel

The Compact SMB Dive Reel was developed in response to customer demand for a smaller, lighter design. First made in 1997, they now sit alongside our standard SMB reels as a key piece of equipment in any diver’s kit. Compact SMB reels come with 50 meters of high grade, durable dyneema cord, ensuring years of outstanding performance.

Reel Spares

We offer a full range of spares for both the standard large and the compact SMB dive reel. This includes backplates, central axle bolts, line guide assemblies, spools, trigger assemblies, and 50m, 100m and 125m reels.
