Our state-of-the-art chemical etching facilities enable us to produce burr and stress-free acid-etched blanks extremely quickly and cost-effectively – with tolerances starting at ±0.010mm (depending on the material type and thickness). The etching chemicals we use can pierce hardened materials equally as effectively as annealed grades and nothing in the etching process will affect the RoHS compliance of your end products. Acid etching is one of the most effective ways of producing intricate shapes in a variety of materials. Materials that do not lend themselves to chemical etching can instead be processed by wire erosion, laser cutting or component machining. We operate a well-equipped, dedicated form room, staffed by an expert and experienced team, ensuring that our world-wide reputation as a leader in component manufacturing is always maintained. CNC laser cutting is an ideal forming technique for situations where etching is unsuitable (when using certain materials, for example). It’s quick, cost-effective, and will produce parts with comparable tolerances to etching but in almost any material. Laser cutting also allows larger parts to be processed – sheets of up to 1500 x 3000mm can be cut, and in various thicknesses. Aluminium etching can be a complex process, requiring expertise and experience but when done correctly, it can deliver excellent results. The main issue with this material is that it's exothermic and therefore reacts during the etching process, leading to an uneven, rough surface. When working with aluminium, we are use the correct process controls in order to combat this issue. The major benefits of aluminium etching are the lightweight nature of the materials, as well as the attractive finish which can be achieved.
Molybdenum is relatively popular across the entire manufacturing industry but molybdenum etching is particularly suited to the medical, aerospace, defence and telecommunication industries. This material has a variety of benefits but it's most notable upside is its high melting point and its resistance to thermal expansion. With these qualities in mind, chemical etching using molybdenum is ideal in components which experience higher temperatures. Here at Qualitetch, we are pleased to produce fine quality parts and components using silver etching processes. Our highly skilled and experienced team produces a wide range of silver-etched products, many of which are in line with extremely intricate designs. The etching process itself is much the same as the etching process using other metals, however, silver reacts with many chemicals, so we use a special chemical etchant called Ferric Nitrate which enables us to produce fantastic quality products.
