Products

National Tube Straightening Service has been established for over 30 years and was originally founded in 1980 by Len Porter; after a highly successful career in the scaffolding industry. Starting with just a single tube straightening machine, NTSS was the first in the country to offer mobile tube straightening and subsequently mobile repairs of system scaffolding. Being the forerunner of the mobile side of the scaffolding repair industry we consequently service some of the largest scaffolding companies in the industry; throughout England, Wales and Scotland. Included amongst these are most major multi-nationals - Trad, Palmers, Mitie, Interserve and SGB to name just a few. We also repair and manufacture many other scaffolding products, including the Stay-Safe Loading Bay Gate, which is widely acclaimed due to its strength, versatility, ease of use and outstanding safety features. We carry liability insurance and are more than happy to provide risk assessments on all of our services.

Loading Bay Gates

The strongest, safest loading bay gate available today, Stay Safe Loading Bay Gates have a new, unique and innovative patented design and come with many benefits including 100% symmetrical arms and easy one-man operation; whatever the size. A full rear barrier keeps the loading bay closed and safe even when in the open position when materials are being loaded. It can also accommodate any size loading bay up to 6 metres in width and incorporates standard scaffolding tubes and brick guards along with our patented gate arms to form the gate. Scaffolding Accessories

We have a variety of scaffolding accessories available at NTSS including a ladder access gate with full mesh front and toe board; which fits onto the standard/upright of all types of scaffolding to form a sprung self closing walk through from the ladder access point. We also have a ladder hatch cover gate which prevents falls through ladder access points within the scaffold - manufactured with mesh decking for both visibility and drainage. Finally we also offer a scaffolder’s step; a class 1 industrial ladder which meets the requirements of the NASC code of practice and folds flat for easy transportation.

Mobile Tube Straightening

At NTSS we offer mobile tube straightening. We’re quality assured by some of the largest scaffolding companies in the country. We carry out all work to appointments meaning we’re there when you want us to be there. In order to keep your sorting time to a minimum, we stack long, medium and short tubes separately after they are straightened. If any tubes are too severely damaged we cut them prior to straightening; we don’t scrap them - this helps keep your purchase of new tubes to a minimum. We have full liability insurance and can also offer risk assessments on request.

Repair of System Scaffolding

Using only qualified and experienced personnel, we carry out all our work to the very highest standards; as with all of our services. We first check all components for defects visually before being straightened; which is done using a hydraulic tube straightener specifically designed and manufactured by ourselves for this kind of work. Once straightened, any components damaged on-site are measured precisely and reduced to the next available size, whenever possible; using a bench-mounted carbide-tipped cut-off saw on our own custom jig. This gives every tube a perfect 90° cut. To find out more about this service visit our website.

Transoms

We carry out refurbishments of Ready-Lok and extendable transoms. In order to check it is not bent or twisted, we first place the damaged transom onto our own custom jig. If we find it has been bent we transfer it to our hydraulic straightening machine, after which it is then returned to the jig where the end caps, t-bolts and ledger bolts are checked for free-operation. Any or all seized parts will then be worked until free-operation is obtained; we would replace any broken or damaged parts with brand new items. The transom is then returned in perfect working order!

Bespoke Fabrication

At the NTSS we can carry out a range of bespoke services from creating one-off items through to batch work according to customer specifications. The picture you can see in relation to this text is a forklift brush attachment with polypropylene bristles, steel construction and a powder-coated finish. We have carried out numerous other bespoke fabrications including cuplok ledgers and sprung loaded ladder access gates which included laser cutting the name and logo onto the toe board before painting.
