JJ Engineering is a Birmingham-based manufacturer of precision metal pressings and assemblies accredited to TS16949 Quality and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems standards. We offer both high-volume and low-volume manufacturing capacity with a number of processes – these include power press capability for up to 350 tonnes. Our other processes include milling, drilling, pitch-feed tapping, riveting, resistance welding, programmable robotic welding, and assemblies components. We also offer subcontracting operations such as electro-phoretic painting, powder coating, anodising, polishing, and electro-plating. Our coil-fed operations allow us to press a feed from a coil of raw material. The coil is fed into our manufacturing equipment that continually stamps the component from the raw material coil – an efficient way to produce components at volume. Please contact us for more details.
Our forming presses are machine tools, using our specialism and expertise in machine tooling, that allows us to change the form of a workpiece through allying pressure. This is the heart of our business. Components can be built to any designed specification through our forming presses. Our comprehensive tool room means that we can draw on state-of-the-art design and manufacturing equipment. We use the latest digitisation hardware and software, including 3D Computer-Aided Design, and we use these design models (produced to your exact needs) to press quality components with our coil-fed or forming presses. We take quality control very seriously. Our expert staff are involved in the pressing process from start to fishing – overseeing design, manufacturing, and testing components as they are produced.
Our welding work is an extension of our core business. Complex designs will often need to be assembled by taking multiple pressed components and welding them into the final design.
Our Electrical Discharge Machining wire erosion equipment allows us to create a precise design from raw material using electrical discharges – sparks. A series of rapid current discharges removes raw material until the final design is achieved. This process is ideal for components that need to be built from hard metals – where coil-fed presses or form presses would have insufficient force to shape the material into the component. EDM work allows us to produce components at a high level of toughness because it works with such hard metals – this toughness is often a critical element in mission-critical industries.
