Products

Magnetic Shields specialises in the design and manufacture of magnetic shielding suitable for a range of applications. The company was established in 1957 when it began supplying top quality magnetic shielding and precision sheet metal products.

Today, Magnetic Shields has a fantastic, global reputation for supplying high quality products combined with first class customer services.

We widely supply magnetic shielding manufactured from the alloy mu metal® which is a highly permeable material that is particularly effective at screening low frequency magnetic fields. Like most other alloys used for shielding, mu metal® requires a special high-temperature treatment which we carry out in-house. This means we can guarantee the final magnetic properties of the shield.

At Magnetic Shields we are committed to providing customers with first class products combined with first class services. We work to strict guidelines and procedures to ensure that all orders reach customers in tip top condition.

Magnetic Shields is ISO 9001:2008 approved and can provide full traceability from raw materials through to end products.

Magnetic Shields has provided the industry with an excellent range of deep drawn cans for a number of years as shielding solutions for small components such as specialist transformers, current transformers and other types of discreet components. Various round and square/ rectangular cans are available in a range of heights and with different lids. They can fit internally or externally to suit customer requirements. Alongside our standard range of deep drawn cans we provide a tooling service whereby we can provide solutions to suit specific requirements. Deep drawn mu metal cans can be manufactured in a range of thickness and alloys depending on the exact shielding requirements.

Shield Design

Magnetic Shields works closely with customers in order to achieve the most effective solutions. We ask customers to provide the following information:

  • Magnetic Properties: what is the minimum attenuation needed? What is the field strength and frequency level of the field to be protected against?
  • Geometry: Geometry of the requested shield, Dimensional tolerances, Average space available, Maximum and minimum internal and external dimensions. Is a drawing available? If not, Magnetic Shields can assist with our state of the art 3D modelling and simulation software
  • Appearance: Surface aspect required for the shield.
  • Service Conditions: will the shielding be subjected to thermal or mechanical stresses or possible corrosion attack?
