Llonsson Mezzanine Floors makes space work harder for you. We are expert designers and builders – with 20 years of experience in the construction industry – of bespoke mezzanines in spaces where unused headroom (of at least 4.5m metres) can be reclaimed to create a whole new floor. We design our mezzanines to suit your specific requirements – and we build them to the highest industry standards.

We also employ a range of creative measures to overcome common difficulties with mezzanine installations. The entire process can be undertaken at marginal cost, with no added relocation, rent, heating or lighting costs; mezzanines pay for themselves.

Our mezzanines come with 25-year guarantees. We install quickly, with little mess, using top quality materials, and we comply with all relevant UK standards. Mezzanines are maintenance-free and excellent value.

Llonsson also offers platform floors and raised access flooring for storage, office, retail, manufacturing, and other commercial or industrial applications in the UK and across Europe.

Design

Our mezzanine floors are designed with a specific need in mind – your space. A mezzanine construction always observes the same principles and uses the same materials and components; but this is a flexible platform that allows us to adapt to circumstances and requirements. We prepare a design brief after meetings and site surveys with clients, including sometimes architects and structural engineers; and we also ensure at this stage that all relevant standards and local regulations are met. Structural durability, fire protection, and escape, are all part of our design. We investigate concrete flooring where needed, determine a cost estimate, and render CAD drawings to visualise the design. Clients are involved at all stages of the process.

Northern Lights Conversions

Our Northern Lights conversions offer clients extra space in the most constrained or challenging situations. Skylights offering "north light" are oriented, as the name implies, to the north; this offers rich natural illumination without taking the direct sunlight of the east and west, which can have the effect of glare or over-heating a space. Factories or warehouses with northern lights create a superior workspace, better for mood and worker morale, and can be achieved with imagination and design ingenuity. Many older buildings have northern lights in a distinctive industrial sawtooth profile; installing mezzanines in these spaces can reclaim wasted or hidden space and create a new positive workspace. Our designers can assess the northern light arrangement of a building and determine if a mezzanine conversion is feasible or optimal for your needs.

Accessories – Access

We offer a range of Access accessories to fit our mezzanine designs. Spiral staircases, feature staircases, galvanised metal staircases for outside fire escapes, cat ladders, and ships ladders; all of these are available to suit your space and give your mezzanine a personal touch.

Accessories - Safety

We take safety seriously with our mezzanine designs. Industrial handrails and kick plates offer reliable ways to alert people of the open edges mezzanines can sometimes include and therefore help keep people safe. And safety pallet loading gates ensure that pallets are secure and prevent people or goods from falling.

Accessories - Function

Our accessories range includes a variety of extras that extend the function of your mezzanine design. Trimmed service duct apertures, trimmed lift voids, and trimmed loading voids help contain and keep safe essential utility conduits and other functional services that would be otherwise exposed in your mezzanine – and they are fitted bespoke to the mezzanine space. We also offer the CaviT® top service access duct; the CCSS® concealed construction partition plate; the SSRP® subsurface recessed plate; and RIGIDGRID® no-brace construction that ensures a rigid design without added braces

Accessories - Aesthetics

The Llonsson accessories range is rounded out with a series of extras to enhance the aesthetic appeal of your mezzanine space. We offer stainless steel or glass handrails, for an attractive safety feature; we also supply other feature handrails that can be supplied to your taste. Rounded columns, circular baseplates, chamfered baseplates (more attractive and less hard on stubbed toes) and recessed floor fixings are all also available to refine your mezzanine design.

Construction

Our mezzanine floors are built with hot-rolled steel columns and main beams that are used to support cold-rolled galvanised Techspan secondary beams overlaid with decking material. A simple and functional approach that gets the job done. Staircases, handrails and fire protection are added as needed; aesthetic finishes can be provided where style is a consideration. The key to this approach is the structural integrity offered by the inset Techspan secondary beam and bracket: it provides an excellent resistance to rotation and superior damping properties. Techspan beams can also be inset into materials to maximise the available headroom. We offer Techspan beams in a wide range of depths and thicknesses to suit your exact mezzanine needs. See our website for more information on the Techspan secondary beam and our overall construction principles.

Installation

We have a standard installation process for fitting a mezzanine floor into most unobstructed spaces. Mezzanine floor materials are delivered on flatbed trucks, to keep the materials safe and intact, and delivered by forklift truck into a designated holding area. Timber is stored under cover. Components are numbered and identified against the installation plans. Techspan beams are first bolted to the main beam at ground level to simplify the fitting process. Columns are placed and lashed, but not finalised, until the installation process is suitably advanced. A forklift truck raises the main beam, aligns it over the column cap plates, and then allows the beams and columns to be bolted together from scaffolding. Further beams are fitted and bolted. And finally, the floor decking is laid in a secure fashion against the beams and fixed with self-drilling and tapping screws. Accessories, such as handrails or other safety or style features, are then added at the end.

Site Work

Llonsson undertakes extensive site survey work before commencing a mezzanine installation. Sites vary between buildings and it is essential that we understand the installation space – from access options to structural integrity to other key considerations. Our teams are fully equipped, use battery-powered tools (obviating the need for on-site power), and use personal safety equipment. Method statements and risk assessments are essential preliminaries to our work. Materials are safely stored on-site before work is commenced. And at the end of an installation, clients are requested to conduct their own inspection after we have tidied the site.
