Wire Wound

Using evenly spaced resistance wires laminated between sheets of silicone, Wire Wound Silicone Heating Elements are ideal for prototyping or problem solving applications. Manufactured to customer specifications these heaters can be made to suit almost any application. High flexibility can be obtained using tough, robust silicone materials that are finding ever-increasing applications in industries. Having manufactured Wire Wound Heaters since 1972, Holroyd have all the necessary experience required to design elements which are suitable for even the most arduous environments.

Etch Foil Heaters

Computer designed, chemically etched foil tracks are laminated between thin sheets of silicone to give precise, even heating. Suitable for both low and high volume production, Etched Foil Heaters have rapid heat up properties with precise temperature control. Suited to applications where high power densities are required, Etched Foil Heaters offer a more precise form of heating than their Wire Wound counterparts owing to wider heated tracks. Having manufactured Etched Foil Heaters for decades, Holroyd are experts in designing specific track layouts and meeting the most precise of customer demands.

Kapton Heaters

A thin, flexible and semitransparent material, Kapton Polymide is ideally suited for the production of heater elements. With its fast and efficient heat transfer, low thermal mass and excellent resistance to chemicals, weather and radiation it allows for high power densities and offers fast response to temperature control. Where low profile, intimate heating is required Kapton Heaters are the ideal solution.

Similarly to the Etched Foil Silicone Heaters, Kapton is constructed from computer designed, chemically etched foil tracks which are laminated between ultra-thin sheets of Polymide to give precise, even heating. Suitable for both low and high volume production, Kapton Insulated Etched Foil Heaters have rapid heat up properties and allow for precise thermal control. For applications where high power densities are required, Kapton Heaters offer a more intimate form of heating than their silicone counterparts owing to their low thermal mass and thin and lightweight construction. Having manufactured Kapton Heaters for decades, Holroyd are experts in designing specific track layouts and meeting the most precise of customer demands.

Drum Heaters

We are pleased to provide the indsutry with a wide selection of fantastic drum heaters. The range includes:

HSSD Side Drum Heater: The silicone side heater reduces the viscosity of materials such as soaps, fats, foodstuffs, varnishes and chemicals allowing them to be pumped or poured with ease. Products are marked with identification and batch numbers giving full manufacturing traceability. Branding with the client details and logo is available upon request.

HISD Side Drum Heater: These jackets are ideally suited for the warming of a variety of products including fats, oils and foodstuffs. Used throughout the world by a multitude of industries from pharmaceutical to chemical, cosmetic to food, the HISD heater jacket is the ideal solution for heating liquid materials stored in metal or plastic drums.

HIBC/B Intermediate Bulk Container Heater: Used throughout the world in a multitude of industries from pharmaceutical to chemical, cosmetic to food, the HIBC/B heater is the ideal solution for heating liquid materials stored in intermediate bulk containers.

HIBC/A: Two types of heater are available. The HIBC/A is a silicone mat heater for placement below the container liner before filling, coupled with a digital temperature controller this provides direct, accurate heating of the liner contents. An insulation jacket covering four sides and the lid is also available to aid warm up time.

HBD Base Drum Heater: The diameter of the base enables use on all sizes of drums up to 55 gallons (200L). Heat is provided by a 900W silicone rubber insulated heater mat, providing an even distribution of heat to the base. If a rapid heat up is required or solid mediums are involved requiring higher power input, Silicone Side Drum Heaters can be used in conjunction with the HBD; alternatively a thermally insulated jacket can be used.

HTSD High Temperature Drum Heater: Four standard sizes are available for drums of 25L, 50L, 105L and most commonly the 200L. All four sizes of drum heaters have their own internal insulation ensuring optimum thermal efficiency. HTSD side drum heaters are specifically designed for the melting or reducing the viscosity of products that require higher powers than cant be achieved with the HISD type.

HIJD Insulated Jacket: When used in conjunction with the heated base unit (model type HBD) heating times are shorter and therefore reduce energy costs. The HIJD jacket can be fitted after heating whether it be by using a silicone side heater, insulated heating jacket, or when removed from an oven preventing/reducing temperature loss. The use of a jacket will help against other environmental effects such as wind chill, frost and cold conditions.

Preformed Heaters

Being thin and lightweight, silicone heater mats have a low thermal mass and hence have rapid heat up characteristics and fast response to temperature control.

Silicone’s wide operating temperature range of –60 to +230°C and superb electrical properties give it a distinct advantage over other forms of heating.

Thermal Devices

Our silicone heaters can be supplied with factory fitted sensors and switches to suit all kinds of instrumentation. Options include:

Temperature Sensors and Switches: we supply PT100s, J, K and T type thermocouples, bi-metal thermostats and thermal fuses as well as customer specified thermistors and other types of resistance temperature devices.

Thermal Control: various thermal control devices such as thermocouples, platinum sensors and limit switches can be incorporated onto the heaters.

Thermal Limiters: these snap action bi-metal switches feature fixed temperature settings that open on temperature rise, cutting the supply to the heating element and close on temperature fall.

Polyester Heaters

With its low thermal mass, superb electrical insulating properties and excellent resistance to most chemicals, it allows fast and efficient thermal transfer. Where fast response and chemical resistance is required polyester heaters are the ideal solution.

Tyre Warmers

Available in a variety of colours with the option of personalised logos, even the enthusiastic amateur can portray the works team impression. We have standard sizes available from stock or bespoke sizes to order.

Silicone Heaters – Accessories

We sell a range of accessories for silicone heaters – from sensors and switches, to cables, to insulation foams, and other accessories. We can manufacture heaters in specialist silicones to meet your colours, thickness, and low toxicity needs. We also supply cables and connectors for heaters – single leads, multi-core silicone cables, or spiral wrap and heat shrink sleevings available on request. And we provide integral foam insulation for higher efficiency during heating, brand marking, and other design and development services. Please visit our website for details.

Silicone Heaters – Fixings

We offer a range of fixing options for silicone heaters. Our fixing products allow for a lasting and permanent bond of high temperature self adhesive to be applied. This allows for simple fixing and offers excellent adhesion to most surfaces – including plastics and other low-energy materials. Fixings are especially useful when the removal of a heater is required; hooks, springs, Velcro, and other fixings are ideal for these applications. We can make fixings in an almost unlimited range of shapes and sizes according to your needs. Please visit our website for details.

Thermostats and Electronic Controllers

We offer a range of thermostats and electronic controllers, installed on to the silicone heaters, to help ensure that your application is controlled to your needs. Our temperature sensors and switches include thermocouples, bi-metal thermostats, and thermal fuses. We also offer analogue and digital thermal control products, with temperatures ranges of 0-150°C, that can be incorporated on to heaters; these allow clients to install their own control devices and monitor temperatures. And we offer a capillary thermostat that can be built in to the final assembly, beside the heater mat, suitable to be used with a 230-volt power supply.
