Inspection

Inspection systems offered by Gen3 include:

• Mantis® UV – an optical inspection system designed by Vision Engineering to enhance the quality control and inspection of conformally coated electronic assemblies. Provides outstanding stereo vision even for wearers of glasses and contact lenses.
• 22XDL AOI Systems – a series of automatic optical inspection devices designed by MEK, the world leader in desk top solutions. 
• Flexia – a range of flexible vision microscopes designed by Optilia for visual inspection, digital image recording, dimensional measurement and QA documentation. 
• SPI Systems – incorporating patented new sensor technology and combining 3D and 2D image processing methodologies to significantly improve defect detection. 

Soldering

We offer two types of soldering system:

• Selective – supplied by ACE Production Technologies and designed to simplify the soldering process when attaching through-hole electronic components onto PCBs that also have surface-mount components attached to the underside. 
• Component Re-Finishing – also supplied by ACE, these systems are used to remove and replace component surface finishes (Tin-Lead to Lead-Free, Lead-Free to Tin-Lead or re-finishing of choice).

Coating

In addition to testing and inspection equipment, Gen3 designs, manufactures and supplies a range of conformal coating process systems for both batch and in-line applications. 

• Nano-Coat Systems – a series of ultra-precise dip coating systems capable of applying coatings from <60nm to >5050µm at >3% accuracy. Being air-operated means that Nano-Coat systems are totally safe to use with all coatings, including flammable liquids. 
• Gen3 Spray Coaters – a range of spray coating systems using High Velocity Low Pressure (HVLP) spray technology for outstanding results. 
• DIMA HC Selective Spray Coaters – available for 3, 4 and 5-axis operations and equipped with a range of special features.

Cleaning

Gen3 offers several batch, in-line and stencil cleaning systems, as well as a drying cabinet for air-drying of PCBs. 

• MB Tech NC25 – a batch PCB cleaner with an integrated vacuum drying module. Uses Microphase liquids such as Vigon in a closed-loop configuration with a patented filtering system to give optimum performance whilst reducing waste. 
• MB Tech NC 29 – a space-efficient stencil cleaner requiring only a 13amp power supply. Features a minimal maintenance design. 
• Stoelting In-Line Cleaners – designed specifically for the electronics assembly, surface mount and semiconductor packaging industries. Stoelting cleaners feature a rugged construction for a longer service life. 
• DC 1001 – a two-door, free-standing drying cabinet for drying PCBs that have been conformally coated. 

Testing

We offer a range of testing systems for:

• Solderability
• Cleanliness
• SIR and CAF
• Solder Paste Analysis

As well as providing a range of testing systems, Gen3 can offer professional testing services carried out by experienced technicians using state-of-the-art systems. Tests are carried out in an accredited service facility and in compliance with the following standards:

• Solderability - IPC-J-STD002 & 003,  IEC 60068-2-54 and -69
• Cleanliness - IPC-J-STD001
• Surface Insulation Resistance Testing [SIR] - IPC-TM-650 [All] including the new 2.6.3.7, IEC 61189-5 
• Conductive Anodic Filament [CAF] Testing - IPC-TM-650 2.6.25

Process Solutions

Gen3 process solutions include:

• Solder Saver – allows you to instantly recycle dross created in the wave solder pot, saving up to 50% in new solder bar purchases. Can be used with leaded, lead-free or unleaded wave soldering machines. 
• Finetech Micro Assembly Systems – suitable for a variety of applications (find out more online).
• DIMA Robotic Dispensers – featuring electronic air pressure control and a wide range of dispensing valves. 
• Board Support Tooling – from leading manufacturer Novatec®

Rework

Rework technologies supplied by Gen3 include:

• Fineplacer Core – functions include: residual solder removal, solder paste printing onto PCBs, direct component printing and dispensing, reballing of a single defective ball or an entire array, and placement and reflow of new components whilst ensuring accurate alignment. 
• CR7000 – a conformal coating removal or stripping system designed to work with all types of stripping chemistries.
