At Formet, we can help you to begin the development of your ideas by assisting you in the design process, be it in the form of line drawings or full 3D animations. From that point, we can engineer your idea into a prototype, and into a full finished product.
We are fully skilled in the production of metalwork prototypes, and our prototype service can be utilised along with our design service, or as a standalone service. Small or full scale prototypes are often necessary before a product can be produced, to facilitate testing and evaluation of the product.
Our sheet metal fabrication service combines the benefits of high end machinery and high quality materials to create quality metalwork of all kinds. Examples of products that we can produce include automotive components, electrical enclosures, splash backs, brackets, cappings, control panel fascias, trims, flashings, machine guards, manifolds, covers, conveyors, tanks, signage, handmade items, prototypes and various catering equipment.

Our metalwork fabrication services can cover more general, bespoke needs. Examples of such work include tables, frame works, stands, treads, staircases, shelters, gates, canopies, railings, grills, marquees and awnings. Pictured to the right are garden feature panels and seating areas that we designed as a bespoke product for a local primary school that wanted to create a quiet area.
At Formet Fabrications, we apply our vast knowledge of welding to providing engineering solutions for our customers, whether it be in the form of a prototype, finished product, or the complete package from design to manufacture. Even if all you need is a one off prototype, no job is too small.
Our welding expertise covers TIG, MIG, arc, spot and stud welding, and we can form tube between 6mm and 60mm diameter in a variety of materials and radii. We also offer section rolling of squares, ovals, flats, rounds, angles and channels.

Past Formet Fabrications projects have included providing components for Ministry of Defence projects such as the Ocelot and a Weapons Mounted Installation Kit. The Ocelot is a Light Protected Patrol Vehicle with cross country mobility and high survivability against mines, thanks to its V-shaped armoured “skateboard” spine. It is also versatile in its roles, due to its modular design allowing it to be reconfigured differently for patrol, fire support and protected logistics purposes.
The Weapons Mounted Installation Kit is a special weapons mount that can be added to Land-Rovers. This results in a tough, flexible vehicle with impressive firepower, be it from rapid-fire grenade machine guns, 50 calibre heavy machine guns or Javelin missiles.
