Our unique and intricately designed firedogs are the perfect finishing touch to your open fire or living area. Each and every firedog is hand made by our in-house skilled craftsmen, and each one is carefully manufactured to uphold our high manufacturing standards and perfect finish. 
 
We offer over 14 different styles of firedog, which are most suitable for use with any form of hanging grate or to fill a fire opening. Louis Fire Dog

Dowding Metalcraft have a wide range of firedog styles available, to compliment any taste, style or era. From traditional firedog styles, to contemporary and ornate, we have a style to suit you. 
 
Shown is the Louis Firedog, with a height of 9 ¾ inches. Smaller and less imposing than some of the more traditional designs, the Louis Firedog is one of our most popular products, as it will work in the hanging grates or fire openings of many styles of home.

Club Fenders

Dowding Metalcraft specialise in the manufacture and fitting of fenders. The design can be custom-made to your own specification, to fit the size, era and style of your own fire and home. 
 
Our club fenders, or seating fenders, are traditional in style, and are individually made in our own factory. The club fender successfully adds an additional seating area to your room, as well as looking stylish and practical. We have four different seating styles to choose from: seat across, square front, curved centre half loop or elliptical half loop. The shape can vary, according to tastes and design, and it can be manufactured from strong, durable brass or steel. The tubular uprights themselves can also be personalised according to your own style – such as barley twists, rope twists, reeded tube, square tube or plain round tube shapes - in the polished finish of your choice.

Bobbin Fender

Fenders can also be personalised uniquely to your own requirements, and can serve as simply ornate pieces to finish off your fireplace – such as the Bobbin fender, or Ball and Fret fenders. 
 
Our fenders are usually polished and lacquered, but can be finished in matte black or with a mixture of polished metal and matte black finish. Most fenders are made from high quality brass and steel, and all are manufactured by our highly skilled team in our factory.

Mulberry 1 Fire Grate

Dowding Metalcraft manufacture an outstanding range of traditional fire grates, through to modern fire grates, to suit your style and taste. Our modern fire grates are made from high quality mild steel, with casings sourced from trusted and reputable foundries within the UK. We have a popular selection available to buy now, or we can create a unique grate specific to your exact requirements. 
 
Many of our fire grates are available with optional brass fittings, such as those shown in the image of our popular Mulberry 1 Fire Grate. The brass creates a strong contrast with the rest of the matte grate. Most of our grates also include replaceable cast iron grills, to help them last for years and years with even heavy usage.

Mulberry 7 Fire Grate

Shown in the image is our modern and stylish Mulberry 7 Fire Grate. It is a very popular choice, as it will fit into most modern homes and really becomes a focal point in any room. The smooth matte finish also works with any colour scheme. 
 
Fire grates such as the Mulberry 7 can be incorporated with a modern gas fire, supplied by us, to match the grate. We can supply traditional coals, log effects, or even ceramic pebbles for a truly contemporary look.

Georgian Fire Grate

Our selection of traditional fire grates are all manufactured in our factory by our skilled craftsmen. Our traditional fire grates are made primarily from cast iron and solid brass. The classic designs will remain a talking point for any room, and the solid, high-quality finish will mean they will last a lifetime. 
 
The image shown is our traditional and ornate Georgian Fire Grate, which can be fitted with a modern gas fire, if required, which is supplied by Dowding Metalcraft. We can also provide coals or traditional log effect extras to really add to the homely look and feel of a fire.

Cumberland Fire Grate

Our popular Cumberland Fire Grate, as shown in the image, is a traditional and striking feature in any home. Made from cast iron and solid brass, the grate has a wonderful mix of brass fittings which contrast with the classic matte back. 
 
We are able to design and manufacture fire grates to suit your individual requirements, as well as supply ready made, high-quality grates from our factory. Please note that we usually only keep a small number in stock at a time, so delivery could take 4-6 weeks.
