We are pleased to have implemented a fantastic, new fuels testing laboratory featuring fossil and renewable fuel sources. We can currently test a range of solid fuels including coal, coke, refuse derived fuel, solid recovered fuel and biomass. We can also test for moisture content, ash, volatile matter, carbon banding, density, calorific value and much more. Biogenic methane potential testing can also be carried out. Please head over to our website to find out more about our fuel testing services. Alternatively, please contact us at DETS with your enquiries.

Contaminated Land

Here at DETS, we offer a range of testing services to cover common soil contaminants. Please visit our website to view our list of common parameters covering metals, inorganics, anions, cyanides, sulphur compounds, asbestos, TOC, VOC’s, SVOC’s TPH, PAH’s, PCB’s, pesticides and herbicides, dioxides and furans, and waste characterisation.

As an MCERTS accredited company, we can provide validation across sand, clay and loamy soil. We are also ISO 17025 approved which enables us to provide clients with even greater levels of data confidence. Larger bulk samples such as railway ballast or gravel can also be analysed if required.

Please visit our website, or contact us directly at DETS for more information.

Geotechnical and Civil Engineering

We also offer a range of chemical tests to clients in the geotechnical and civil engineering industries. These tests are carried out in line with various industry standards such as BS 1377:1990 Part 3, BRE SD1 and TRL 447. Tests can be carried out on a range of soils, waters, concrete and aggregates. Some of the commonly requested parameters include: natural moisture content, stone content, pH value, chloride, nitrate, carbonate content and more. Most tests are accredited to ISO 17025. If you would like to find out more about our chemical tests, please contact our friendly team at DETS and we will be happy to help.

Speciated Mercury

As one of the first laboratories set up to test for speciated mercury we are highly experienced and can provide clients with a wealth of knowledge and advice when it comes to the testing of mercury and the dangers it presents to human health. Following the Environment Agency’s Science Report SCO 50021, Soil Guideline Values for Mercury in Soil, analysis should be performed to provide values for three forms of mercury – elementary, organic and inorganic. For details on how we test each of these forms of mercury, please head over to our website. Or, contact us directly at DETS for more information.

Water & Waste Water

DETS provides clients with a range of tests for routine monitoring, site characterization, or contamination to water courses. Commonly requested parameters include: metals, anions, cyanides, hardness, alkalinity, solids, total organic carbons, pH and electrical conductivity, and many more. We can also provide suitable containers to enable clients to collect their own samples.

DETS holds an extensive range of UKAS and MCERTS accreditation across all of our water matrices.

Waste Management

We also provide a range of services to meet the landfill directive which stipulates, in broad terms, criteria to prevent or reduce negative effects on the environment.

We provide a waste characterization service to cover common contaminants such as pH, moisture content, total sulphate, sulphide, phenols, total cyanide, metals, PAH’s and TPH banded.

We also categorise waste to determine which category it will be consigned to as per the Waste Acceptance Criteria (inert waste, stable non-reactive hazardous waste and hazardous waste). Tests on the solid waste as well as the BS EN 12457 two stage leaching test are carried out.

Further details regarding waste management can be found on our website.
