We have provided hundreds of channels to research installations worldwide, with our products being valued for their high channel density, Open Source software platform, simultaneous capture capability and value for money. Architecture

Our range of digitizers are designed to work in standard chassis and conform to industrial standards. As with most digitizer cards, they can be used as peripheral devices under the control of a system master computer.

Our CPC1 cards don't actually need a system master and can run directly off a network, as they are self-contained Linux computers in their own right. This can eliminate backplane resource conflicts and the need for a driver in some cases. In addition, CPC1 cards can be used as system masters, by controlling other cards through the PCI backplane.

Products

D-TACQ digitizers provide simultaneous capture with dedicated converters per channel, maximum channel density at the lowest cost and unyielding analog performance with the best possible analog front end. They have intelligent architecture and well-integrated digital subsystems, including FPGAs, microprocessors, deep memory and ethernet. These digitizers can be used for applications such as transient recording, signal processing and control, and continuous capture.

Our range of digitizers includes 96 channel, 64 channel and 32 channel 500 kSPS/channel simultaneous-sampling digitizers, a 2..32 MSPS/channel simultaneous-sampling digitizer, a 65 MSPS/channel simultaneous-sampling gated burst digitizer and a 16..50 MSPS/channel simultaneous-sampling digitizer. We also have a 24 bit digitizer and two models of analog output cards.

Modular Products

Our modular product range includes data acquisition modules based on the VITA 57 FMC formfactor and networked module carriers, allowing users to configure a high performance data acquisition appliance to suit their requirements. This FMC formfactor allows IO to connect directly to an FPGA device without an additional bus layer, which allows for high performance, efficient modules at a low cost.

Our range of DAQ modules includes a 4 channel simultaneous analog output and 4 channel, 8 channel and 32 channel simultaneous sampling digitizers, and our range of carriers includes a 1 site FMC carrier, a 2 site FMC/ELF carrier and a 6 site ELF carrier.

Networked Digitizer

Our range of digitizers can be plugged directly in to the plant ethernet, using standard TCP/IP networking and providing a cost effective solution. This provides the lowest cost deployment, as the self-supporting unit will only require a chassis and a network cable. It is also a highly scaleable option, as more cards and network cards can be added to work in parallel.

Another benefit is that it eradicates the need for device drivers, with simple control from a remote computer as well as data upload to the remote computer, with a variety of methods available.

Applications

Our products are used in a variety of cutting-edge test, diagnostic and control applications worldwide, with hundreds of channels seeing daily use in plasma fusion research and plasma control. More scientific applications of our products include passive sonar arrays, HFDR radar arrays, wind tunnel pressure models, seismic applications, “big physics” applications, power supply monitoring, laser flashlamp condition monitoring and Gyrotron conditioning. Our products have also seen use in transient capture applications for military and ballistics testing, as well as in engine testing applications. The standalone capabilities of our newer products have given rise to new applications in medical imaging, radar imaging, space imaging and sonar imaging.

ACQ196CPCI 96 channel 500 kSPS Simultaneous Digitizer

The ACQ196CPCI has a high throughput of 500kSPS per channel, the highest performance with the lowest cost per channel and true differential input to each channel. This digitizer provides the maximum channel density, with 96 channels in one slot, and can replace a whole rack of 16 channel boards. Other features of the ACQ196CPCI include plant cable interface to front panel, RTM with three options for ethernet connectivity, 400 MHz RISC processor with embedded Linux, 64bit/66MHz backplane PCI interface and up to 1GB of DDR memory.

ACQ164CPCI 64 channel 128 kSPS, 24 bit Simultaneous Digitizer

The ACQ164CPCI has 24 bit ADC per channel, which provides true simultaneous analog input. The latest delta sigma technology provides good DC performance which makes it suitable for control applications. Features of this digitizer include high channel density with low power, true differential input to each channel, plant cable interface to front panel, integral Gigbit Ethernet with output to front panel, 400MHz RISC processor with embedded Linux and 32bit/66MHz backplane PCI interface. It is compatible with ACQ196 RTM for DIO32 and AO16 expansion options, and has great connectivity with easy software enhancement.

RTM-T Gigabit Serial Link Adapter

The RTM-T is a new rear transition module that can provide a fast data path to gigabit serial links, such as PCI-Express on Cable, Fiber SFP and Gigabit Ethernet. This adapter is compatible with ACQ196CPCI, ACQ132CPCI and ACQ164CPCI digitizers, as well as the AO32CPCI AWG card. The PCIe on Cable interface transfers data directly to a host PC adapter, and allows the use of low cost cabling and cable adapters.

Examples of uses for the RTM-T include streaming 96 channels at 500 kSPS direct to host with the ACQ196CPCI, streaming data direct to fiber optic link with the ACQ164CPCI and creating a low cost networked AWG in one slot with the AO32CPCI.

FMC Modules

Our range of data acquisition modules and carriers provides high performance appliances that can be networked together and configured to meet specific customer requirements.  The unique FMC form factor allows IO connections to FPGS devices with no additional bus layer, and seamlessly integrates with both D-TACQ and third party carriers.  Specified to VITA57 FMC, the carrier supports FMS and standards-compliant LPC models.  They support the Xilinx Zynq System-on-Chip architecture, providing low power gigabit Ethernet connectivity via a dual-core ARM processor running Linux.  Our carriers provide cost and price advantages, utilising the maximum DAQ payload in a compact space.

ACQ132CPCI 32 channel 2 MSPS Simultaneous Digitizer

This is our 32 channel 2MSPS digitizer board.  It provides 14 bit ADC simultaneous conversion on all channels and can be configured as 16 channel 4MSPS with continuous data transfer to local memory, or off-board via the CPCI backplane.  The unit provides for various over-sampling and filtering options, plus switchable voltage ranges of ± 10V or ± 2.5V.  The board can be run standalone or connected via the gigabit Ethernet DAQ system as part of a network solution.  The Linux DAQ system includes a 600 MHz RISC processor, and software enhancements are easily applied, providing a cost-effective multi-channel digitizer with outstanding connectivity.

ACQ216CPCI 16 channel 15..50 MSPS Simultaneous Digitizer

Our 16 channel 15 to 50 MSPS digitizer is a highly configurable board with intelligent waveform digitization throughout, deep memory and both conventional and peripheral mode and standalone networked operation.  The 400 MHz RISC processor runs embedded Linx, providing various connection options including dual gigabit Ethernet.  The number of channels and speed are software-selectable from 16 channels at MSPS to 4 channels at 50 MSPS.  In addition, there is a hardware option with faster ADC devices, allowing up to 80 MSPS burst mode operation with 4 channels.  Applications include high speed transient recorder with deep memory, high speed continuous monitoring and for use in systems requiring the handling of multiple successive events with zero deadtime.

AO32CPCI 32 channel simultaneous Analog Output

This low cost board provides 32 channels of analog outputs.  With simultaneous outputs and 16 bit DACs on all channels, it provides excellent performance alone or as part of a ganged multi-board solution.  Many options are available, including a 64 bit digital output, a 64 channel PWM and, with the new -ER version, up to 18 bits per DAC channel.  This CPCI peripheral card is recommended for use with the ACQ196CPCI 96 channel digitizer.  Many clock and trigger lines are accessible through the connector interface.  Additionally, the front panel boasts a S68 (HD68) connector that is pin-compatible with the ACQ196CPCI.
