Changing the Face of Composites

It's not often that something new comes along and you say 'WOW'!  And then think, what can we do with that? I know, we can make a TOILET SEAT and a FRISBEE our of DENIM!! Yup real 100% cotton Denim!

The team at Changing the Face of Composites had that dilema in 2014 when some asked us to look at some fabric they had processed. 

This is fabric that is processed in the same way you would Carbon Fibre, that much loved composite very much desired by the automotive industry, not only for its strength and lightweight qualities, but for its iconic weave pattern as well.

Not everyone wants the black weave pattern, but many people like the quality it has and if you wanted to do something different, you had to have it laquered in a different colour.

Then came the challenge of what do we do with it, what can we make and who can work with it.  Many ot the car & marine type industries know how it can be used, we found a few folks that had made some non-auto products in carbon fibre and we asked them to make something using our fabric, thence was born the denim toilet seat and denim frisbee, the worlds first of their kind. Of course, we dont just do denim, have a look at the website for more ideas, like the carbon fibre and gold racing car seat, the light fittings, the sockets and switches that compliment the wall panels, the table tops, the cabinets, the list is endless!

We showed these and some other items at the Surface Design Show in London.  Taking on board the visitors feedback we have been able to develop this further and are in the process of launching panels and veneers.
