Products

Castle & Pryor provide specialist diamond drilling and cutting services for clients throughout the United Kingdom. Working on projects large and small, we use our experience, expertise and our advanced technologies to cut and drill concrete or masonry in all kinds of situations.

Formed in 1991, Castle & Pryor has become a major player in the UK construction industry, providing diamond drilling, cutting and controlled demolition services to major international contractors as well as small local companies. In the two decades since the company was founded we have worked on projects of all types and sizes – from office blocks to highway bridges and railway tunnels, airport runways to refractory kilns.

Drawing upon this experience and using the latest diamond cutting/drilling technologies, we are able to accept even the most challenging jobs, providing a tailored service to meet your requirements in a cost-effective and timely manner. The Castle & Pryor workforce is CITB accredited, CSCS trained and NVQ qualified, so you can be completely confident in the quality and professionalism of our service.

Diamond Drilling Services

Diamond drilling is a quiet, non-percussive process used for forming holes and openings. It prevents bursting or spoiling, and it requires very little or no reinstatement work. Castle & Pryor uses both wet and dry drilling techniques – both provide a precise hole, and both can be applied to a range of base materials, including mass concrete, reinforced concrete, brick masonry and blockwork. To prevent mess in environments that need to remain clean, water and dust control attachments can be used in the process.

Castle & Pryor drill bits range from 6mm in diameter (ideal for small anchor bolts and dowel bars) through to 1,200mm in diameter (ideal for the installation of large diameter pipes). Find out more about our service by visiting Castle & Pryor online.

Percussion and Rock Drilling

Percussion and rock drilling processes involve using tungsten carbide tips with a hammer action technique to vibrate material loose and clear a hole. This will usually leave rough sidewalls ideal for the insertion of dowel bars and resin anchors (which require a lot of grip). Equipment can be handheld or frame-mounted – frame-mounted set-ups are commonly used when drilling non-reinforced concrete or brickwork. Castle & Pryor tailors its drilling approach to your individual needs, but the two main techniques we employ are Machine Mast Rock Drilling and Automated Rock Drilling. You can find out more about the advantages and disadvantages of both by visiting Castle & Pryor online.

Diamond Cutting

We provide masonry and concrete diamond cutting services to clients throughout the United Kingdom. Services include:

  • Masonry and Concrete Wall Diamond Cutting – Also known as track sawing, this offers an efficient solution for those requiring accurate cutting of doorways, windows, lift shaft openings, etc.
  • Concrete Floor Diamond Cutting – Commonly used for cutting flat surfaces such as motorways, pavements, bridges and floor slabs. Castle & Pryor floor saws can cut to a depth of 500mm.
  • Diamond Wire Cutting – Allows almost any large concrete or masonry structure to be cut in situations where other methods would not be feasible. Ideal for bridge sections, jetties, columns or beams.
  • Floor and Wall Chasing – Ideal for the installation of pipes and cables.

More information on these services can be found on the Castle & Pryor website.

Specialist Robotic Demolition

Castle & Pryor owns a fleet of latest-technology Brokk robotic demolition machines that allow us to operate in environments where point loadings, noise, access and toxic fumes make the use of conventional equipment unsuitable or unsafe. All of our machines are highly versatile and come with a range of attachments, including powerful percussive breakers, hydraulic crushing jaws, excavating buckets and concrete milling heads. Brokk machinery is powered by electricity and is robotically controlled, eliminating toxic fumes entirely and reducing the risk of injury to site personnel. Brokk equipment is also very compact, which makes accessing space-constrained sites much easier. Find out more about the advantages of Brokk machinery by visiting Castle & Pryor online.

Hand Held Hydraulic Crushing and Bursting

Hand crunching is an extremely quiet (almost silent) controlled demolition technique for crushing concrete or masonry into manageable lumps. At Castle & Pryor, we have equipment that can crush concrete to a depth of up to 300mm.

Concrete bursting is another controlled demolition technique. It uses a hydraulic rather than percussive action to burst reinforced mass concrete and masonry without excessive noise or vibration. This makes it ideal for demolition jobs in office blocks, residential buildings, hospitals and other similar noise-sensitive environments. Castle & Pryor has concrete burst equipment that is able to provide up to 80 tonnes of pressure.

Concrete Floor Cutting and Sawing

We have a range of floor saws that enable us to work on a wide variety of floor cutting and sawing jobs. We can cut to various depths (up to 500mm), inside and out, and we’re able to use low-vibration electric saws in situations where noise might be a problem. Castle & Pryor regularly use floor cutting equipment on motorways, bridges, pavements and floor slabs. We can also work in restricted areas thanks to a range of modular saws which can easily be dismantled and reconstructed.

Wall Cutting and Sawing

We have a collection of electric, petrol and diesel powered wall saws ideal for cutting holes in doorways, windows and lift-shaft openings, and for performing other similar tasks like reducing the height of walls. With this equipment we can saw both horizontally and vertically to a depth of 50mm. The apparatus is set up according to the project requirements and operated remotely by a highly skilled technician. This allows them to remain at a safe distance during the cutting process.

Airport Contractors Services

Our equipment and experience makes us well placed to provide specialist airport services. In fact, we have been working within military and civilian aviation facilities for many years, and have successfully completed major breaking, drilling and cutting projects at Heathrow and Gatwick. All of our operatives are certified by The British Airports Authority and The Department for Transport, allowing us to undertake airport contracts throughout the UK. You’ll find a list of specialist airport services on the Castle & Pryor website.
