Products

Brookes & Adams’ heritage extends back as far as 1853 when it was established as a producer of brooches, ornamental metal work for garments as well as buckles, medals and badges.  Over the years the company has adapted its offering and now expertly manufactures a wide range of components, assemblies and finished items such as wing nuts, banjos and plugs, carpet bowls and a wide range of yacht fittings.  Our highly skilled engineers have access to first-rate equipment including CNC Mori Seiki and Proturn lathes, Agie CNC spark erosion machinery, BOY injection moulding machines and a XYZ turret mill and surface grinder and they utilise processes including brass stamping, injection and compression plastic moulding, zinc alloy pressure die casting and stainless steel metal pressing.

We offer our customers a personalised service, working to their specific requirements and are committed to providing high levels of quality in the production and finish of our products, and in the service we provide to our customers.

Stamping

Brookes & Adams Ltd produce hot brass stampings that are fully machined for industries such as rail infrastructure, fluid control, road transport, marine engineering, medical gas control and pluming to name but a few.  The most common material requested for pressings and hot stamping is stamping brass BSEN 12165 CW617N (formerly BS2872 CZ122), although we are also able to manufacture stampings in copper, aluminium bronze, machining brass, high tensile brass (manganese bronze) and naval brass.

Moulding

Brookes & Adams use both thermoplastic and thermosetting plastics in the production of our plastic mouldings. Our moulded thermoplastics are generally Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), ploythene, acrylic, nylon and polypropylene and are all injection moulded.  The thermosetting plastics, however, are compression and direct screw transfer moulded and materials available are glass filled epoxy, glass and cellulose filled phenolics and urea formaldehyde.

Die Casting

Zinc alloy is a hardwearing, resistant metal that has the perfect properties for casting an array of items, including engineered and electrical components.  All our castings are manufactured in EN 1774 ZL0400 (formerly BS1004A) commonly referred to as Mazak 3 in the UK or Zamak 3 in Continental Europe.  Contact us to discuss your zinc alloy pressure die-casting requirements.

Yacht Fittings

Our expertise allows us to manufacture a wide variety of yacht fittings including D Shackles, Long D Shackles, Twisted Shackles and Harp Shackles.  All stainless steel fittings are manufactured from type 316 molybdenum bearing austenitic steel, the properties of which give excellent corrosion resistance, strength and durability whilst offering a satin finish that has a high polish on some surfaces.  Some fittings are forged in manganese bronze – CZ114 and brass – CZ122.  On our website you will find a brochure listing the specification of all available fittings including Nickerson Deck Spacers, Marline Spikes, flag clips, clinometers and a range of dinghy items.

Wingnuts, Banjos and Plugs

We are pleased to offer a comprehensive selection of wing nuts, available  in brass, manganese bronze, nickel aluminium bronze and naval brass, as well as the complete range of BS856 wing nuts.  A variety of threads include metric, imperial and unified threads.  You will also find a range of brass wing screws and thumbscrews, as well as assorted fuel system brass banjos and brass threaded plugs.  We are confident you will find what you are looking for, but please do contact us for further information and advice if needed.

Carpet Bowls

Carpet bowls is a great game of skill, suitable for those of pretty much all ages and abilities.  Our carpet bowls are available in 2.5” and 2” diameter sizes and are moulded with a bias, which means that players can come at the ‘jack’ from either side.  We recommend a playing area between 3 to 6 metres long and at least 2 metres wide.  With each set you will receive four pairs of hand polished compression moulded bowls, a jack, a mat and a full set of rules.  The sets are real quality sports equipment which will give hours of enjoyment.  You can see a full description of the game on our web site.
