Ken Walsh has thirty two years experience assessing and treating individuals with mental health difficulties. He was one of the first mental health professionals trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(cbt) and subsequently accredited with the BABCP in Belfast, Northern Ireland. His experience enables him to confidently treat most conditions from mild to moderate through to severe personality difficulties. He has been running a private practice for nearly ten years.
Ken has worked as a mental health nurse in the Gransha, Knockbracken Healthcare Park and Windsor House, BCH psychiatric units. He started nursing in 1979 and has experience working with clients who have severe mental health problems including severe depression and anxiety disorders.
In 1995 he began working as a community mental health nurse and seen clients in GP surgeries in South and East Belfast for mental health counselling. In 2001 Ken worked as a cognitive behavioural therapist within the Department of Psychotherapy, South and East Belfast Trust.
In 2003 he left the NHS to set up his own private practice from his home and has been running this busy practice ever since. Treating clients with mild to moderate mental health difficulties and clients with personality related issues. In 2010 Ken was asked to act as an expert witness in Family Law and Childcare proceedings for all the health trusts in Northern Ireland.
