Atrium Gantrys is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of aerial access equipment, this year celebrating our 25th anniversary. We specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of purpose-built gantries, BMUs and other associated equipment, and we offer a range of products that can be used singly or in combination which each other in order to provide a complete access solution.
Our services are aimed at architects, engineers and property managers who require access equipment that’s tested and fully accredited for safety and which is sympathetic to the appearance of the building. Every installation is designed and engineered by industry experts who are able to draw upon years of experience in their respective fields.
Established in 1991, Atrium Gantrys has been installing access equipment for more than 25 years, making us your first port of call for quality engineered gantries, BMUs and track systems.
At Atrium Gantrys we take responsibility for the entire project. Following the successful award of any contract, our in-house design department will begin producing design drawings in 3D using Inventor software. These are then analysed using FEA software in order to determine the most structurally effective design.
Approved design drawings are then issued to our fabrication shop where they are developed using a range of engineering techniques such as laser cutting, milling, turning and welding. These processes are carried out by a vastly experienced team of fabricators.
Next the various pieces of equipment are assembled and any electrical controls fully integrated in preparation for installation, which is carried out under the control of our contracts department and a site installation team who produce Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
The completed installation is then site tested, commissioned and handed over to the client with all necessary O&Ms, load test and training certificates.

We design, manufacture and install Building Maintenance Units (BMUs) to suit almost all building requirements. Jib lengths will vary along with the track gauge and the fixing method. Cradles and seats are made with aluminium and can be permanently rigged to BMUs or made fully removable. Clients have the option of choosing between manual or powered winches. Atrium has designed, manufactured and installed gantries on all sorts of buildings, many of which have required systems that are not visible to customers or visitors. Take, for example, our gantry project at John Lewis in Leicester. Here it was a condition that the gantry could not be seen by customers on the upper store level – so we made it with an electric handrail that could be raised and lowered at the touch of a button, meaning that it was practically invisible to shoppers when not in use. Track systems designed by Atrium can be fixed or freely laid on the roof and can be made to incorporate bends, turntables, points systems and hoists as required. We’re able to design and install a range of safety wire systems to cover the requirements of most applications. You can see some of our safety wire systems in use on the Atrium Gantrys website. We can manufacture walkways in galvanised steel or GRP. These are supported on a steel framework which is fixed either to the roof or to BMU tracks along with balustrades, safety wire systems and access ladders which are designed and engineered in house. As well as designing, fabricating and installing your access equipment, our engineers are able to maintain and service it, ensuring that it’s safe to use for many years to come. Maintenance contracts provided by Atrium involve a quarterly visit by fully qualified and experienced personnel, and, where required, an insurance inspector who will flag up any potential issues for them to resolve. During the visit our engineers will perform a load test and, providing your equipment passes, will provide full certification for your records. If required they can also provide training in the use of your access equipment for building staff, window cleaners or anyone else who may need to use it.
