High St Birmingham

We were taken on to complete this project due to the original contractor making little progress. The project required six floors which resulted in 200 tonnes of large steels being inserted into the existing building structure and raising to the underside of the 4.5m high floor. To complete this project we had to rectify mistakes that the previous contractor had made in order to proceed effectively and safely. We used special liquid epoxy sacrificial jacks which we pumped up under hydraulic force to stabilise the building.

Sainsburys

Another of our projects was for the construction of Sainsburys in Wombourne. For this project our team had to erect a bi-framed portal that was particularly slender to share a spine beam in the valley. The stress on the spine beam meant that both sides of the building needed to be balanced during erection. To do this, the portal had to remain on the hook while two cranes were used at the same time to release the load. This project required extreme skill and precision. Areas that we naturally excel in!

Radcliff Power Station

This project required us to reinforce a concrete floor from beneath while over the top of some extremely powerful live transformers at the same time. For this tricky project height clearance was minimal and access was extremely tight. Our skilled team had to thread heavy steel members through small high level windows! For this project we used the BFG, a purpose built, bespoke lifting equipment featuring a secure runway (to protect the transformers), a reduce height bogey with a custom built jacking table (to raise the steel to the underside of the ceiling) and a strong, low height turntable (to spin the steel through 90 degrees once in the building and above the transformer). Another project taken in our stride.

Boreham Wood Retail Park

This project was another challenge for the team. It required us to carry out a heavy installation during the night at a shopping centre complex in Boreham Wood. We had to remove the whole side of the building and replace it on temporary supports while a new portal bracing assembly was installed into the existing building. We then had to transfer the load back to the new frame and feed a heavy vestibule ellipse under the new portal and position it 3m inside the building. We used a crane jib for this application which was extended horizontally into the building.
