We are the UK's exclusive supplier of the Mircona range, consisting of high quality carbide cutting tools for metal machining from their base in Sweden. They are the market leader in parting-off and grooving tools, with one of the largest specialist tool ranges on the market, and a unique range of cutting tools for metal removal machining. The range also includes ISO turning tools, slot and groove milling tools, boring heads, and special purpose tooling, and we can also supply Mircona tool holders and inserts for most machining applications on request. Nine9 Drills & Cutters

As the UK's exclusive distributor for Nine9 drills and cutters, we are proud to stock these high quality, efficient products that provide cost savings for those operating CNC lathes, turning centres, and machining centres. Nine9 tools have a long life span, and are suitable for spotting, chamfering, grooving, and engraving, with 60, 82, 90, 100, 120, and 140 degree angles available to suit your application. With coated carbide inserts to increase cutting speeds, Nine9's products are suitable for a wide range of uses. The range includes spot drills, corner rounding cutters, chamfering cutters, engraving tools, super drills, super power drills, and I centre drills.  

ACT 2.2

ACT 2.2 offers a range of features, advantages, and benefits that can help improve rigidity and repeatability, ensure flat components when parting off, and to ensure ISO standards on size. With a stepped down blade design to extend the insert and tool life, the ACT 2.2 is ideal for precision grooving, turning, and facing, as well as parting off up to 42mm. The four in one tooling system makes it ideal for a wide range of applications. Specials

We can provide special tools such as modified inserts and tool holders to allow you to achieve the highest levels of cost effectiveness and efficiency. Because we have a wide range of Mircona's standard cutting tools, we can usually create bespoke items with minimal modifications and fast turnaround. This has included O-rings and axial O-rings, medical components, turbine manufacturing, lubrication grooving, bearing manufacture, face grooving in pump components, thread in pump coupling, aircraft fuel pumps, grooving in wear parts, trepanning, and parting-off large scale components. Parting Off & Grooving

We offer parting off and grooving tools for small to large applications, with our range including 2mm-12mm wide mechanically clamped and integral tool holders. As the UK's exclusive supplier of the quality Mircona range from Sweden, we can help you create a smooth parting off and grooving system for fixed and sliding head CNC machines, microcut tool holders, components for medical equipment and aerospace applications, and coated inserts. Sliding Head Applications

We supply a wide range of sliding head solutions from Dieterle of Germany, a manufacturer of cost effective solutions for fast metal removal, including plunge grooving, side turning, and external grooving. Dieterle use only hardened or high yield point material to create their tool holders, with a full range of shank dimensions and lengths available. Exclusively producing tools for automatic lathes means that they can cater for all kinds of material and chip control, with unique insert fixing to simplify the cutting edge indexing process.  

Milling Cutters

Frustum's Metal Master Milling Cutters are double sided, allowing you up to 24 cutting edges per insert, with the toughness and durability you need for your application. Mass is relocated outside the cutting edge, allowing for heat dissipation, and the product can handle severe shock from interrupted cuts. Options include Weldon shanks with side lock holders, integral R8 taper shanks, and popular shell mill diameters, with a wiper blade to help eliminate grinding operations.

Threading Tools

We offer a wide range of internal and external threading solutions, with multi layer coated grade FXA which offers heat dissipation, ideal for austenitic stainless steel and aerospace materials. These inserts have been rigorously tested, and can be used on most materials at a low cutting speed. We also offer grades HXC/HXA for high speed cutting, for example of work hardening and sticky materials, or for small internal threads at a lower RPM. Metalworking Lubricants

Our range of metalworking lubricants are an effective way of increasing tool life. Our work has seen us complete jobs for the aerospace industry in tough conditions, and in automotive where every penny counts. Our non-toxic, non-hazardous lubricant is environmentally friendly, and is dispensed directly to the cutting point to allow for healthier and safer working conditions. We also offer microlube lubrication systems that work for metal cutting and metal forming applications, using high quality lubrication in microscopic amounts to avoid flooding and reduce costs.  

Slot & Groove Milling Tools

We also offer an exclusive range of Mircona slot and groove milling tools to cover most machining operations. 

• Mircona slot milling cutters – Can be used for deep grooving or cut-off. Features a patented sprung-loaded clamping system that increases clamping force in proportion to the cutting force, thus eliminating the risk of the insert being thrown out of the cutter body through centrifugal force. 
• Mircona groove milling cutters – Provided with a screw/clamp-locking device for the insert. Intended for groove milling on a flat surface or for external or internal circular grove milling. 

Manufacturing from Scratch

In situations where we are unable to modify standard tooling to meet your requirements, Advanced Carbide Tooling can provide a bespoke solution designed and manufactured from scratch. These are produced either by us here in the UK, or by Mircona AB in Sweden. Mircona are specialist toolholder designers who invest heavily in state of the art DNC/CAD/CAM technologies that enable them to develop special grooving toolholders both quickly and cost-effectively. Boring Heads

ACT can offer two types of boring head for use with Mircona face grooving tools with round (152S0-00) or square (152S) shanks, or alternatively in combination with an ISO turning tool holder for internal machining. These are:

• BFG-20 – Smaller sized boring heads covering a diameter range of 20-60mm.
• BFG-60 – Larger sized boring heads covering a diameter range of 60-190mm. If desired, the BFG-60 can be mounted with two cutting tools simultaneously.

Modified Inserts

Both the Mircona and the ACT UK ranges of grooving tooling incorporate a strength of design that allows special and semi-special toolholders to be produced quickly and cost-effectively. This supplements an extensive range of toolholders which are already available as ‘off-the-shelf’ products. Modified Tool Holders

ACT supports a variety of industries – including motorsport, medical, aerospace and oil & gas – with specially ground inserts that offer a wide range of grooving solutions. Semi-specials are produced from blank (with a turnaround of between 5 and 7 days) and tailored to customer requirements. Chamfering Cutters

Advanced Carbide Tooling is the sole UK distributor of Nine9 chamfering cutters. As well as chamfering, these tools are capable of a number of other functions, including spotting, engraving and v-grooving. They are available in several configurations and in various angles (60°, 82°, 90°, 100°, 120° and 142°). Standard versions have four cutting edges.
