20mm Red Aggregate

We are pleased to supply 20mm red granite chippings. These beautiful, rich, red chippings are widely used for driveways, paths, public car parks, golf courses and large landscaping projects. They are virtually maintenance free and provide users with a great alternative to river gravel, pebbles, slate or other stone chippings. They not only look great but they are also extremely durable. Granite chippings are also be effective as a security device due to the distinct sound of crunching gravel that can be heard if someone approaches.

20mm red aggregate is delivered free of charge to customers within two to five days from the time the order is placed. Orders can also be delivered within 24 hours if required.

14mm Red Aggregate

We are also pleased to supply Cloburn 14mm red aggregate. These chippings are becoming increasingly popular compared to other alternatives such as river gravel, slate and other types of stone chippings. Our 14mm red aggregate is comfortable under foot making it an ideal material for creating pathways. It is a popular choice of material for homeowners who use it as a deterrent to intruders due to its distinct crunching sound. Cloburn 14mm red aggregate is also effective for use with large landscaping projects due to its low maintenance requirements and easy installation.

10mm Red Aggregate

Our 10mm red aggregate is particularly effective for creating decorative areas. It is widely used for landscaping purposes such as on golf courses and commercial garden centres where its vibrant colour creates an effective contrast. Cloburn 10mm red granite is a great material to use with rockeries as it allows water to pass through to the plants while also creating a barrier that reduces the rate of evaporation.

Cloburn Fine Aggregates

Cloburn fine aggregates are effective for creating hard, wear-resistant surfaces. They are widely used in concrete block paving and asphalt applications such as bus lanes and cycle paths. They are available in a range of common sizes including 1-3mm, 2-5mm, 5-8mm and 8-11mm each with excellent load bearing properties.

Cloburn granite is extremely durable with a distinctive red colour that gets richer the longer it is exposed to the elements. Our red aggregate is well-respected around the world reaching destinations as far afield as the USA, Japan, Holland and Germany.

Red Granite Firechip

Red granite Firechip™ is a flexible aggregate widely used for creating golf course paths, walkways, amenity areas and cycle paths. It is free-draining and comfortable to walk on while being capable of carrying heavy loads at the same time. Firechip™ is lighter and tougher than many alternatives available on the market. It also covers more ground than its rivals. It is easy to compact and weighs two tonnes per cubic metre when compacted. The minimum depth for vehicle traffic is 75mm which means one tonne of Firechip™ will cover seven square meters. A 50mm depth is required for pedestrian traffic which means one tonne will cover 10 square metres.

Red Granite Cresta

Red granite Cresta™ is a low-maintenance, durable material used to create outdoor playing pitches, tennis courts and running tracks. This 3mm down product features an additional binder to create a permeable surface suitable for achieving optimum levels of friction. In tennis courts, for example, this results in the ball slowing down and a higher bounce achieved due to the increased grab and friction as the ball lands and pushes against the ball’s horizontal path. In running tracks and football pitches, Cloburn red granite Cresta™ feels light under foot and provides a comfortable surface texture. Red granite Cresta™ benefits from occasional rolling.

Granitsand

Granitsand™ is effective as a premium bedding material effective for block paving and concrete slabs as well as high strength concrete. This tough and durable bedding product is created following the washing of crushed rock fines which removes the minus 75micron fraction.

Granitsand™ withstands extremely heavy traffic and features incredibly high load bearing and stability benefits due to its cubical particles. It is as effective for bedding concrete and clay paving blocks as it is as a concrete sand. It is particularly wear-resistant and features high abrasion resistance in all weather.

Cloburn SUDS

Here at Cloburn, we offer top quality granite aggregates suitable for Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS). In 2008, legislation came in to force that required homeowners to obtain planning permission for all projects featuring paving areas of more than five square feet unless permeable blocks or approved drainage systems were to be used.

Our high quality granite aggregates are approved by the UK’s leading paving suppliers. They feature an effective drainage solution whereby dirty water and surface water is able to drain away before releasing it back into the environment.

Ready Mix Concrete

The Cloburn Quarry Company Ltd is also pleased to offer top quality ready-mix concrete via its subsidiary company, Granitmix™. Granitmix™ ready-mix concrete is created from high quality Cloburn granite. It provides users with a range of benefits including reduced work-site congestion, no storage requirements and no need to purchase or hire concrete mixing equipment.

A range of Granitmix™ solutions are available including housing concrete, industrial concrete and agricultural concrete. Granitmix™ operates standard truck mixers as well as volumetric on-site batching trucks to suit different customer requirements. All of our products are quality assured.

Concrete Aggregates

Our concrete aggregates are widely used for high specification projects and are arguably the best available in central Scotland.

• Coarse Aggregate 4mm-20mm: our coarse aggregates form the bulk of the finished product. They feature low shrinkage, high strength, low water absorption and a bulk density of 1.4 tonnes per cm3.
• Fine Aggregate 0mm-3mm Granitsand™: Cloburn sand is produced using top quality granite to create an end product that is structurally sound and wear-resistant.

Cloburn concrete aggregates also feature low chloride and sulphate content, low abrasion value and high resistance to freeze thaw.

Construction Materials

Railway Materials

We have also been supplying high specification track ballast for a number of years. In fact, we are recognised for being the UK’s leading supplier of railway track ballast. Railway track ballast is used to form the bed for sleepers to lie on and is often packed between, below and around the ties. It is a particularly effective material for this purpose due to its excellent drainage properties and potential to minimise damaging vegetation.

Cloburn track ballast is tough, impervious to hydrocarbons and water and has a smooth, hard-wearing finish. It does not degrade under load when wet and helps to reduce track movement.
