Company Description

Chemical Reactors and Associated Equipment from Ken Kimble (Reactor Vessels) Ltd

A full range of reactors from 10ml to 250 litres, constructed from a variety of materials such as glass, glass lined steel, stainless steel, Hastelloy, etc.  Pressures up to 12 bar in glass and 350 bar in metal.  Temperature ranges from –150 degrees C to +400 degrees C are achievable.

A full range of ancillary equipment from heater/chillers, distillation systems, vacuum through to fully computer controlled systems.  We can offer a single vessel or a complete turn key pilot plant.  Usually equipment is built to a customer’s specifications or to solve a particular problem.

 Scale Up & Pilot Plant

Glass and glass-lined steel hybrid vessels up to 250 litres are robust with good heat transfer while still allowing the operator to observe the contents of the vessel.  The use of the Büchiflex flexible glass joint allows glass overheads, distillation systems and pipelines to be built with ease.  The flexible joint is vacuum and pressure tight and can be easily reconfigured.  This is particularly useful for research equipment when it is difficult to foresee exactly what the equipment will be used for in the future.  The initial investment is not wasted as additional components can be added quickly and simply.

 Parallel Synthesis

As well as individual automated reactors, we can also offer the Flexylab system for parallel synthesis and process optimisation.  A maximum of six 250ml reactors can all be individually controlled from one PC using one heater/chiller.  This allows much faster process optimisation.  The system includes two liquid additions, from balances, for each reactor, individual temperature control and stirrer speed control.  Options include pH, torque, distillation, pressure/vacuum and FTIR.
